Description

Update Oct 2022: gravel road is washed out post-hurricane Fiona. I have added updated photos of the current gravel road conditions. You could still walk down and tent it but I can't see anything other than an ATV making it around the washed-out area.
.....
Drive down the gravel road at the lighthouse, lovely flat spot close by the beach. Check the road before driving down, it is steep and has big potholes from other 4x2 trying to come back up.

Latest Check-Ins

Checked this place out after hurricane Fiona. The gravel road is now washed out. See photos. Since it was the off season and everything was closed we parked behind the lighthouse museum instead.

Great place to park for the night after getting off the ferry. Gravel road was fine in our Sprinter, but I wouldn’t do much larger based on the small area and rough road.

Superb spot! A little tricky to get down and back up due to the rough, rutted gravel road, but doable with my lifted 2wd Sprinter, just have to pick a good line to get back up. The parking area is very level and close to the water and crashing waves. Room for 2 or 3 vans but we were all alone and it would have surprised me to see someone else show up. It's situated behind the lighthouse. Really a great spot!

Report Check-In

Steep partly washed out road to get down to the spot, we were able to go up and down with rear wheel drive in our converted sprinter. No coverage so it was quite windy. Didn’t stay overnight but could have comfortably.

Report Check-In

There’s a great breeze and a spectacular view. We spent about a half an hour picking up trash here and there but otherwise spectacular. The lighthouse is occupied but no worries about staying down by the water. If you hike north along the shore it gets very soggy and wet after about 1/2 mile. The road coming down is a little tough just make sure your car can handle it. A small fox lives nearby and was curious but did not bother us.
