Great place as you drive into town on the left, nice big yard if you want to camp, great common area with great kitchen, well run hostel. Wifi can be very slow... Senorer Philly was. Managing whilst we were there very helpful lady, we had great cook ups with everyone combining there food on the table chatting around the table.. Close to some of the hikes and Robinson Cruso across the road which runs the tours..
camping: 7000 pp
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Beautiful campsite and cabin/refugio. We treated ourselves to a cabana after the long drive. Shower was amazing. Also has WiFi, but it’s a little slow. Can get laundry done here. WhatsApp ahead to prebook the cabin (there’s only one big one, but can sleep up to 6). +56966321984
Report Check-InNice place. The camping area is big but has very little wind protection (some bushes). It had rained for a few days in a row so the ground was very wet, we got a bed in a shared room (6 ppl).
Camping is 9k/p
Shared room is 14k/p
Hospedaje Austral got beds for 15k/p in double rooms in case you need something more quiet than a hostel. This is a nice spot but it can be a little too loud at night since unfortunately quiet time (23hr) is not really enforced
Report Check-Incamping now 9k, dormbeds 14k, nice communal places, clean and well equipped kitchen, wifi signal is poor
Report Check-InEste lugar estava fechado quando estivemos aqui. Talvez devido a baixa temporada.
Report Check-InVery nice place to stay! Good vibes. The common room is great, spacious with lot of stuff to cook and you can recharge your electronic devices. Clean bathroom with very hot showers. Friendly owner, speaks English. Camping is still 7000 pp.
Report Check-InIn case you're wondering whether it's worth it putting 2000 more for camping than other options in town : yes it is.
Super comfy cosy common area with good crowd.
12000 dorm
7000 camping.
Really nice place. Quite expensive at 7000 for camping, but the kitchen and communal area were really great and the place has a nice vibe. The staff were lovely and there was sufficient wind shelter for tents behind some bushes. Showers were hot, but the wifi was so slow as to be essentially nonexistent. This is the case pretty much everywhere in O'Higgins though, the only place I found where it works at all was the public library. Still, this was a nice hostel and I'd stay again.
Report Check-InHighly recommended. Many options; camping, shared rooms, private rooms, and cabañas. Lots of common space for communal use. Wifi slow but seems to be the standard in O’Higgins. Owner and staff kind and helpful. Laundry service available.
Report Check-InNice place to stay. we stayed here for two nights and enjoyed it a lot. its now 7000 pp for camping.
Report Check-InGreat camping, really nice staff and owner. Bit pricey though (7000 clp pp for camping) but then the place is really clean, the kitchen really well equipped (the best kitchen I've seen in a camping in Patagonia), really cosy and warm inside. WiFi is working more or less like everywhere in town. Hot showers anytime.
No shelters for tents. Two hamocs available outside. Possibility to handwash the clothes with warm water.
A brilliant spot. Many many cyclists. We got a cabaña as the difference in price between a private room and the cabaña was very little for a lot more space. It is one of the most comfortable beds we have had in months! There is also a wood fired hot tub and Finnish sauna to rent! We haven’t tried these but they look fab! There are two boat companies running ferries south and the hostel is located very close to both.
Report Check-InWe stayed 3 nights in the very nice cabana, price is less than a room with private bath with breakfast! See photo of current price list. The only drawback is the double bed has seen better days, there are springs sticking up all over poking you, not too comfy. This cabin sleeps 4 with double bed in downstairs bedroom and 2 single beds upstairs with 365 view. Fully equipped kitchen with gas stove top and oven. Bright and cheery. Hard to leave this beautiful place...
Report Check-InThe hostel also has a cabaña. Great place to stay! Wonderful staff, good atmosphere. Flexibel in availability when uncertainty about ferry departures because of weather conditions.
Report Check-InProbably the most memorable stop on the Carretera Austral. A cosy hostel with camping outside , dorms downstairs and private rooms upstairs for some extra comfort. Hot tub out the back. due to its location has a great atmosphere with people finishing or starting the CA and has excellent staff
Report Check-InI'm camping here 3 nights waiting for the ferry and I totally agree with all the previous comments. Although the backyard is rather big, they accept max 10 tents/12 ppl so the kitchen/bathrooms don't get overcrowded. I really appreciate that! In other towns I've been in central campsites where it was common to queue to use the facilities, but that won't happen here. Highly recommended.
Report Check-InReally homely, lovely people and a nice common room/kitchen. $12000 for a dorm bed, $4500 for a machine wash. plenty of parking space.
Report Check-InCozy interior common room. Double bed shared bathroom and decent egg and bread breakfast for 35.000 CLP. Good Hot shower.
Report Check-InNice cute hostel, wooden cozy building, well supplied kitchen, twin room (2 beds) for 35 mil
Report Check-InVery nice place. Single room with shared bathroom is 25.000, laundry 4.500.
Report Check-Inbest place for cyclists, friendly management, very helpful, good exchange with other cyclists with identical issues, spacious and bushy campground with good wind shelter, lovely common area
Report Check-InVery clean and comfy place. Speak English. Access to kitchen and laundry. A bit expensive for what we needed. Lots of cyclists so it’s a good meeting spot to exchange informations. Wifi is slow like everywhere in town.
Report Check-InPrivate room with shared Bathroom around 22000 Clp im not 100% sure anymore... great place full of cyclists. I would definetly come again.
Report Check-InNow 12,000 for dorm without breakfast and 15,000 for dorm with breakfast
Report Check-InTHE place to be for backpackers and cyclists in O'Higgins. Well organized, clean, nice and warm common area and kitchen.
Paid 9000 CLP for dorm and 3500 for (big) load of laundry.
Report Check-InGreat campground and hostel! Super cozy kitchen and dinning area. Very clean restrooms and showers. Helpful owner. Terrible wi-fi but that that try the library or tourist info office. They only take 2-3 max overland rigs if they have space. It can get very windy and there’s no protection from it. They give cyclists and backpackers priority. There’s a sauna and hot tube you can pay additionally for. 6,000 per person. To camp. Pili the owner is super friendly and helpful. Great place!
Report Check-InOne of my favourite places to stay on the Carretera Austral! Super cosy kitchen and common area. Hammocks out the front. Great music played on the stereo during the day.
Report Check-InEl Mosco is a peaceful place with a great kitchen, dining area and deck for chilling. The hammocks are the place to be around sunset. Camping is 6000clp.
Report Check-InVery clean and comfy place. Showers are hot, internet quite slow (guess it will not be better elsewhere).
9000 CLP in dorm, 12000 CLP in dorm with breakfast.
A fantastic camp option with a very kind host. She allowed us full use of kitchen, bathroom, showers and the dining area for $6000/pp. There is adequate flat area and grass to set up tents or park roof top tent equipped vehicles. The dining area and halls are loaded with maps, hiking information, route schedules, etc. The perfect place to do final preps for an adventure.
Report Check-Inliterally the best stay I had since on the road in the Carretera. the lady hosting was so nice and helpful that made my experience the best ever. I was the only person at the hostel so that could have probably helped. facilities are new, mattresses in the Dorms are thin but comfortable. the common area is warm and very cottage like. beautiful 180 degrees view of the surrounding mountains. Definitely recommend. 10000clp for dorm. I would give 6 stars if I could. wifi was shockingly slow but why would you use wifi in an enchanted place like this? enjoy the remoteness!
Report Check-InNow 6000 pesos per person. Showers were not hot at 23:15, 08:00, but warming around 21:30. We were informed the wifi did not work properly when we checked in however there is good Entel 3G coverage in town.
Report Check-In6000 camping, 9000 dorm, 18000 room. Great showers, 3500 laundry, nice common room. Was there with motorbike, so did not experience that this place should not be Moto friendly as written below. In fact there were also travellers travelling by car, coming walking and hitchhiking. Internet slow to not working.
Report Check-InThis place is for the bicycle crowd in their spandex shorts. Staff immediately made it clear they were not moto friendly.
Report Check-InLoved this place with a great living area and an open kitchen, hot showers, and clean everything all the time. This place is famous among cyclists for good reason. Higgins surprised us...nice little town with deserted hiking trails and snowy mountain views all around.
