A quiet beautiful camp hidden behind large rocky cliffs. Firepit. Shade from trees and later in the day from the rocks. Some small hodoos near by and a cool viewpoint up on the rocks. This place has some beautiful rock formations, please think about the least damaging route before walking or climbing on them, so others can enjoy too :) Location is literally just outside the cottonwood canyon boundary, no pass needed. Enjoy!

Such a beautiful and nice place. We liked especially the higher place under the trees with the sand. Usually we overnight just one night, but here we stayed 3. 😉
One of our best places in Utah/Arizona.
This is a fabulous site. We checked with the BLM visitor center in Kanab and were told no permit is required. Since others have mentioned a permit perhaps things have changed.
Report Check-InWe checked all the spots along Cottonwood canyon road and this one is by far better
Report Check-InOpen area with dispersed sites and very easy access just off of Cottonwood Canyon Road on BLM Rd 430. One area is next to trees, others are open. Very quiet, clean, and pleasant. Nice short trail at the site, another 1/4 mile down Cottonwood Rd to the Lower Hackberry Trailhead which leads down a level sandy trail along a pleasant stream through a gorgeous narrow and high canyon. Rd 430 continues past the site very steeply up the mountain, over a high saddle at the top and on to the next broad mesa. High clearance 4x4 absolutely required. We parked a short way up and hiked the rest to magnificent awesome views. We also found 3 Verizon bars at the wide spot where we parked; there is no cell service at the camp area. Free permit is required, available at the several visitor centers. We got ours at Big Water.
Report Check-InCamped at another pull off down the road because someone else was already in this spot. There’s another nice campsite at the top of the hill but the car couldn’t make it up the steep roads
Report Check-InBest site of our trip. Secluded, clean, quiet. Need your own toilet. Trailhead to both lower hackberry canyon and yellow rocks trail is across the road.
Report Check-InWow, what a fabulous site! Secluded, scenic, shaded, quiet. Favorite spot. We lingered the next morning to enjoy this place.
