Nice flat area away from everything to spend the night. Much quieter than the Real Canadian Superstore or the Whitehorse Library.
Current entrance is from the north (where the rec centre/pool is) as the Alaska Highway entrance is currently under renovation.
When you get onto the dirt road, you'll see three turns on the left, take the third one, just before the gate. There is a turnaround there and at the end of the turnaround, you'll find a big spot to the left where you can park and spend the night.
We spent a few weeks here in between side trips to Alaska and up the Dempster.
Occasionally people come here to smoke weed, or to hook up approx once every three nights, but still it's quieter than even the library car park.
This area is next to a new neighbourhood they are constructing.
Another good option if you don't want to go here is the car park above the rec centre where the tennis courts are, we stayed there with a bunch of folks who were in town for a pedigree dog show, they were camped there for a week despite the no overnight sign. we had no issues staying there.
We don't have any photos of this place yet.
