Sleeping place right in front of the White Pocket on the parking. Super quiet, 0 Services. Ideal for morning and sunset photos!
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
2-3 bars T-Mobile 5G here at the lower parking lot (deep sand 4x4). 30 Mbps down and 3 Mbps up!
Report Check-InTook the 89A way in. Many nice spots to camp. 4X4 and high clearance -necessary-. You can camp directly in the parking lot or you can continue on to a more remote area. This lower area is directly on a flatish part of the formation and can be brittle. Fires were made right on top of the rock. Reception was spotty but possible. We had 3-4 neighbors nightly but very easy to find quiet and privacy. It was otherworldly to be sleeping and waking up here. So incredible to watch the colors change as the day progressed. This place is so spectacular. No words measure up to describe.
Report Check-InCareful with Google Maps!! I came from the northwest (from The Wave vicinity). You kinda hook around in a U shape to get to White Pocket. But Google took me down a couple VERY wrong sketchy segments!! After exiting one segment there was even a sign that said "Not the way to White Pocket" (telling people NOT to go down the road that Google just brought me thru)...So be careful and stick to the obvious wider dirt roads. Google Maps routes are sometimes inaccurate in the middle of nowhere and it can get you into dangerous situations. So if a path feels way too sketchy when driving here, you're probably on a wrong path. The correct roads to White Pocket are sandy and high clearance, yes. But they're well signed and pretty obvious wide roads (versus a couple of the obscenely bad segments that Google told me to go down).
Report Check-Inok i got stuck and didn't make it. make sure you have high-clearance vehicle and driving experiences in sand.
Report Check-InGorgeous place to hang out. Peaceful and isolated. Some Verizon signal and LTE. Road in is long, sandy and deep sand in spots. Would suggest 4x4 only but I did see a Suburu out here, unsure if they made it out. Pack out your TP or bury it. Disgusting
Report Check-InAlthough it's just a parking lot, it is very beautiful and absolutely quiet. You will have the entire place to yourself. The road is very sandy, so 4WD prefered over AWD.
Report Check-InParking area (sandy place) 500m away from the beautiful rock formations of White Pocket. Awesome place for sunset/sunrise and nightshots but no amenities available. The road to get there is very sandy on the last 8 miles! 4x4 with high clearance needed.
Report Check-InStayed on a Monday night in the White Pocket parking lot. Were there for 24 hours and only saw one group of hikers. Very stunning scenery. Had 4G service on T-Mobile if you walked up a hill. Great maps and info at this site: http://www.thewave.info/WhitePocketCode/Map.html
