We stayed here for 2 nights. Good cellphone service. Very well maintained, has pit toilets and a dumpster.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Pulled in around 5pm, left around 8am. Free but saw some signage for proposed changes so may not be free for long. Basically just two big grassy loops with a couple pit toilets, so zero privacy if tent/car camping. Felt a little abandoned, there were two tent camps that appeared to be homeless and two bigger rig camps. I wouldn’t feel comfortable hanging out here for long unless with a large group but grateful for a free place to park while passing through.
Report Check-InVery nice place
Easily can accommodate any size rig
You just pull off into the grass wherever you want. There are some fire rings already made. A couple pit toilets. A covered picnic table. No fee unless you take a horse on the trail.
Still a wonderful, free camp spot. Everything already mentioned is still accurate— very well maintained, quiet, dumpster on site, vault toilets. No water available. Any size rig would be able to find a spot here. Great for solar. Hiking trails right off the camp.
Worth mentioning that a notice, dated May 2023, was posted on the board outlining a N.F.S. proposal to develop this and other sites in Hoosier N.F. TLDR: Establish specific site pads, install water spigots, and setup a fee tube. Let’s hope this gets tossed out.
This Campground is in the James Dean wilderness area of the Hoosier national forest. Quiet and peaceful. Restrooms very clean and stocked, grounds nicely manicured, new fencing looks nice. Overall just a great place.
Report Check-Inhorse camp. lots of space. any rig fits. lots of day use for hiking. no water. pit toilets. some shade. great for solar.
Report Check-InVery nice spot. Please help keep this place and others like it clean so they remain open and available in the future. We picked up a lot of trash in the grass including a board with screws in it pointing up. Tire wrecker for sure.
Report Check-InFree!! Big open spaces, not very busy. maybe 3 other groups here but only in yelling distance.
Report Check-InGreat secluded spot to crash for the night. Kept my dog close to vehicle or leashed up to be safe. Pit toilets fully stocked with plenty of toilet paper.
Report Check-InFree. Two sets of pit toilets. But Basically a big field surrounded by forest with rock fire rings dotted around.
Report Check-InClean national forest campground. Pit toilets and trash dumpster. Very quiet. On a well maintained gravel road.
