Description

A good place to wildcamp for a night on your way to/from Moremi North Gate and Chobe Mabebe Gate. It’s in the forest with nobody around. Signs of elephants in the area (but we didn’t see any while camping) and we heard wild dogs howling in the evening. We tried the other “Kwai” wild camp listed on ioverlander but 3 vehicles past us while we were there and asked us if we were ok/camping there for the evening. Seemed a bit busy so we decided to find another spot. To get here (Moremi to Chobe direction), you drive on your way to Mabebe Gate on the main dirt road. Then turn left onto a smaller dirt road (you’ll see faint tyre tracks) and follow that winding path for about 5 minutes until you get to an open space on your left.

Very convenient and well hidden spot to avoid paying the camps on the parcs.
We spent 2 nights here, you can definitely hear the cars on the main road but it’s not a game area so you should not be found !

Very nice and hidden spot. Was easy to find but the road was blocked from a tree days ago. Met other guys here using the overlander spot, they cut the tree on the way. Nice chatting and nice place. We heard Hyenas nearby.

If headed towards chobe or northwards, entry is AFTER the right curve signs. We went into the wrong place several times. Forest recovered from burning but the empty patch is covered with high grass now. Mascom no signal, be mobile weak signal and internet doesn’t work

Report Check-In

Ok place for a night after or before Moremi Game Reserve. Unfortunately the area was recently burned. Easy access on a sandy track. Not visible from the road. Cell signal phone but no Orange signal.

Route as described. Lots of firewood around. Spent 4 nights nobody came. Bit close to the road to khwai so you'll hear the cars though. also be very careful with the animals at night pack all you staff

Report Check-In

Excellent location! We followed the track to see where it goes, it ends at a water hole. Spent 3 nights there and got a visit from some friendly locals who use the track to collect fire wood.

Report Check-In

Quiet place with lots of firewood. There is a small open area which makes camping and making fire quite comfortable. Stayed 3 nights here, nobody around. Same as described, signs of elephants but didn't see any and dogs/hyenas at night.

It's hidden and great location to explore Khwai.
