Description

Camping happens in the tropical gardens, beautiful, very green even in the dry season as they keep watering, with views over sunrise and sunset on the plains around this elevated place and the hill with the hill top cross (can hike up there). Each place has a table, water tap and power plug. Wifi works closer to the restaurant. Nice ablutions in the historic red building with the horse fresco, good hot shower. They also have some bungalows with rooms and chalets. Breakfast and dinner from restaurants on demand. NAD 250 ppn. (incl. firewood). See webpage for photos.

We just made a quick overnight stop here. Lovely site with good facilities and stunning views. Pool looks very inviting, I wish we had time!
Ablution block is in need of an update, but clean and functional with powerful hot showers.
As has been mentioned, new manager seems committed to uplifting this place to meet its potential. We hope to be back.

we stayed there 1 night looking for a place before going to waterberg area. we had such a great time that we decided to stay one more night and forget about waterberg (as advised from the owners). Lovely owners, amazing staff, always checking if we are alright or need anything). Nice area in the mountains, you can go for a walk in the area and find some animals. INCREDIBLE diners and breakfasts... truly it was a pleasure, we had some antelope and zebra meat. really nice talk around the fireplace. Such a great time there. thank you again Thersha & Gunter. If you plan to go to Etosha or if you are on your way back to Windhoek and want to have a nice stop before continuing your journey just stop here it's an amazing place.

Really nice stop. Quite shady with some grass. Host is really helpful. Has a pool and really fast WiFi. 250N$ pppn. Firewood supplied. Do the walk up Mt Hohenfels the views are amazing.

Magnificent! Look at the photos of the webpage which show the true beauty of this place! Camp is under German/Namibian-management. Owners are very friendly and interested to let you have a pleasant stay. All clean and well-maintained. You have wonderful long-distance views on the countryside from the camp-sites which are on a higher level. Well-marked hiking path to a view-point on and further to the top of Mt. Hohenfels (just a couple of meters lower than Waterberg Plateau) starts directly from the camp; this walk was an absolute highlight for us (thereafter we decided to skip Waterberg). NAD 250 ppn. (incl. firewood).

This was one of the, maybe the best camping place I had in a month of Namibia. Host and staff, who took over last December, were more than amazing. Very friendly, not pushy. Camp is 250NAD pp. the campsite has levelled out spots for cars and small green grass patches for tents. Water, braai (wood included) and electricity at every sight! They also do food which is 350NAD pp for a three course meal which was delicious. There are Dikdiks!

The new management are doing a smashing job. Couldn’t be more helpful or attentive.
Paid 250pppn and meals are set menu at 350pp. I’m a picky eater and they did everything to make the meal to my taste.
Highly recommend a stay while visiting the Waterberg area.
Track leading to campsite is manageable with normal sedan.

Hopeless - apparently the owners, currently in Germany, are sending a management couple and the current lady stops working end September - maintenance and cleanliness not at a acceptable level

Report Check-In

The owners are in Germany for the next five years and friendly and helpful Evelyn and Dirk taking care of the place. Still beautiful setting on top of the hill in a lush garden. The Abolutions are clean but quite old and worn. Lots of friendly dogs and cats around. The road to the farmhaus and campsite is washed out on several places. Price N$200 ppn.

We returned here after 12 years, and regarding the campsite, nothing has changed. Camping still happens in the tropical gardens, between the reception/restaurant building and the family graveyard of the Hohenfels family, beautiful, very green even in the dry season as they keep watering it, though a bit narrow (they built some concrete guides in order for the cars to be able to park on level ground), with views over sunrise and sunset on the plains around this elevated place and the hill with the hill top cross (can hike up there). Each place has a table, water tap and power plug. Wifi also works closer to the restaurant. Ablutions in the old red building with the horse fresco, good hot shower, soap and dishwashing liquid available, they are also making an attempt at separating waste (without much success). They also have some bungalows with rooms now, and these guests are having dinner. We did, however, not manage to be served at the bar after dinner; the kitchen and restaurant staff were a bit indifferent and not attentive. 150 N$ ppn.
