Down this road are a few areas to camp for free. There are flat grassy areas and most are near the river. Pit toilets, trash cans, and fire rings are available. Free roaming cows in the area. The road can be rocky and tricky in a few areas but for the most part fine. Our 21' sprinter did okay. Various degrees of privacy from the road, and the sound of the river seems louder than the traffic. No or very little Verizon, but 4G at visitor's center (or at the top of the climbing area on the other side of the road)

like other people said it's rocky. it was relaxing listening to the river. no internet. if you go up the road you have it. the campground is 1.5 miles away and for $20 it might be a better option for some.
Report Check-InGood spot. I stayed close to the bathroom to avoid the slightly rough road to further spots.
Report Check-InStayed here 2 nights over a week and highly recommend it. This camping area is pretty early when you drive into the NF which is nice. Very close to Bruce’s picnic area and trailhead which is great. As others described. I was in a 2WD promaster and there were several spots I could get to ok- though some required road that looked a little rough to me. Recommend walking down to the river to relax- plenty of space to put a hammock or camp chair with your feet in the water. In June, all the wildflowers were blooming. Incredible. With cell boosters got 1-2 shaky bars of T-Mobile but pretty much none without.
Report Check-InAlong a creek, but not right up against it. Camping is pretty open. 1 weak bar cell reception.
Report Check-InThere are 3-4 campsites depending on how close you want to be to your neighbor. Pit toilet available that is not disgusting. The road to the location is paved. However, the path around the sites has very deep potholes and some large rocks. There could be issues with turning radius for larger vehicles and towed trailers. Higher clearance vehicles would have no problem. Take it slow. The sites closest to the road are not as challenging.
