Something not right?

Description

A farm with a rather rustic restaurant & sport-fishing in small lakes. Happy to have guests for the night & they really enjoy the company. Lovely place with fireplace lit every night in sheltered eating area. Toilets available & hot shower on request. Camping in exchange for meal from the restaurant or a tip. Trout is $4-$6 depending on size of fish (that you can catch yourself) with rice & mote pillo....delicious!!! Other food & hot drinks available. Lovely owners, Roque speaks Spanish & his son Fabian speaks some English. There is nice hiking to some lakes & waterfalls. They offer excellent fly fishing for a fee as well. All in all a wonderful stay & much better value & experience than the parking lot of the national park for $4pp!!!!

Latest Check-Ins

Coming from Cuenca, we first stopped at the entrance of the park (4usd/pers) but quickly we moved here, cheaper, better and could fill water.
We fished 2 troots, they cooked them for 7$ each with rice and corn and we didn’t paid anything else. A bit noisy cause the road not so far. Recommanded !
Toilets free clean and open all day/night
Wifi incredibly fast !

Report Check-In

Super friendly owners, the son speaks english as well.
We catched a fished and watched them prepare for us.

They have fast wifi now. Still possible to camp. They are living in Cuenca and are leaving in the evening (around 7pm).

Great and quiet place to stay! Very friendly family. We caught two small trout which Fabian prepared for us. The meal was very tasty but a little price at 16$.

Report Check-In

Everything as mentioned before. Super friendly owner, they let us fill our water tank.

Report Check-In

nice space behind the restaurant. The food is good and cheap. We recommend. Nice owner. Pet friendly. Good for big rigs.

Report Check-In

Great place to stay, we slept in the parking lot 2 nights, free but we ate at the restaurant one night. We were able to fish and catch some trucha. Lots of hiking options, to lakes and waterfalls. Very cold at night but nice clear skies. The owner gave us fishing rods to try catch some fish at the higher up lakes. Recommended.

This is a must stop!
We planned to camp at the national park but they charge 4$pp and the services close at 4:30.

This Restaurant Hermanos Prados let you stay in their parking lot if you purchase a meal. We even fished our own trout and hung out by the warm fire afterwards! The food is very tasty here. The trout is between 5-8 dollars depending on the size you catch.
And the bathrooms have toilet paper! That never happens.

We highly recommend this place. Much better than staying at the park.. and on the end you’re paying the same price, or less. (But with food, bathroom, and warmth)

Report Check-In

Good place to spend the night, bathrooms ok. You are not charged for your stay if you have lunch or dinner in the restaurant (cozy rustic cabin). The owner's family very friendly.

Report Check-In

Buen lugar ,LLAMAS, ALPACAS, CABALLOS PATOS ,TRUCHAS

Report Check-In

This is the place where you start the hikes to some of the best lagoons in the National Park. As everybody says camping in the parking lot is free if you eat something at the restaurant. Roque the owner and his son Fabian are very attentive and they really care for their customers and overlanders staying at their place. Roque’s family used to own the whole Cajas park a few generations back until the government made it an official N.P. They now only own a few hundred acres. Pet friendly, no WiFi, no electricity. Parking can get crowded on weekends.

Report Check-In

All as described, recommended. Trout cooked by the owner was delicious! Only bathroom. Cold at night.

Report Check-In

This place is exactly as described. The family is incredibly welcoming, the food is delicious, parking is perfect for rigs large and small. There are clean bathrooms and cold running water. We paid no camping fee, simply had dinner, wine and tea for $18 for two people. It lies at almost 14000 feet and is very cold, but is a great place to spend a night or two, hike nice trails and sit by the indoor fire to share food, music and friendship!

Report Check-In

We spent one night at this lovely place with nice people. Its still free but have something at the restaurant or give a small donation.
From here you can start 2 hikes. We did the longest starting below the restaurant on the road. It was really beautiful but cold ! Really cold during the night too. You can use the toilets also, very clean ! Highly recommended!

Report Check-In

Nice place, we stayed here two nights and had fresh fish for diner (twice). Paid 12,50 for two meals and a beer. You could also start some hikes to different lagunas (for free). Cold during the night, but normal on 3.900m. Nice and very friendly people. Recommended!

Report Check-In

The shower was not available when we stayed there with our van but everything else is accurate. Friendly people, nice (and warm) fireplace and good trucha dinner.
Better stay here than pay $4 at the official parking of the park

Report Check-In

Good place, good foot, beautiful vew all on 4000m

Report Check-In

great fish, probably the best of our trip. (dish around 4,50$). Very friendly people. For sure the better deal than the parking lot in the national park for 4$/p. There is also a nice hike nearby to some lagunas on top of the hill. Its outside of the park, so no worries with your dog. (around 3 hours, on opposite side of the road. You can see the road that goes up from here. You might want to pick up a stick, lamas react agressive towards dogs)
Can get cold at night.

Report Check-In

Good place to spend the night although quite some road noise. Truck traffic all night. The trout is very fresh but the meal rather rustic. Also, there is no (more) shower but clean toilets.

Report Check-In

Nice place to spend the night and taste his delicious trout! Hiking trails nearby. In my opinion the bettee place to stay than at the visitor center. Big rig friendly.

Report Check-In

Everything as mentioned below. Very nice owner, wonderful fresh trucha and super tasty, potable water. If you want you can also make with him some very nice hikes of different duration to different lagunas. Very recommend place.

Report Check-In

We stayed here for one night in the way from Cuenca to Guayaquil. Nice place. Very quiet and cold. They let us park for free.

Report Check-In

Nice place, cold, nearly on 4000 m, nice owner, had diner and camped for free (gave a tip).

Report Check-In

The spots to camp are a 20 minute walk from the ranch. It is situated beautiful at the lake between the mountains and away from the road. Downside is that you'll have to walk back in the dark to the tent after diner. We paid $5 pp. to camp and $5 per trout (which was delicious!)
