Description

Pakistan-India took us an hour and ten minutes. We arrived at 11:30am. Pretty straight forward, it’s a big border but everyone tells you where to go. More or less completely empty as very few locals cross it - it was a bit strange being the only vehicle there! Carnet needs to be stamped when leaving Pakistan and when entering India. On the Pakistan side we changed dollars for Indian rupees at a better than the market rate (we made money!). This border closes every day at some point in the afternoon (not sure exactly what time but it was closed at 4:30 when we went back a few days later for the ceremony) so don’t get there too late - also worth going to view the closing ceremony that happens each night if you can, it’s brilliant!

All as described - pleasant experience - kind staff both sides - 2 hrs total. Very nice facility. Come for the closing ceremony.
Pakistan carnet guy gave good $USD>INR exchange rate.

Very easy border on both sides. In total we stayed 1.5 hours. They help you with what you have to do. We changed euros to rupees for good rate to the man who helps you with the CDP. The border closing ceremony is quite a show!

Immigration and customs office opens at 10:00 on the Indian side! On the Pakistani side the Carnet guy where you can change money gave us a really bad rate this time. He probably wants Euro or Dollar, but changing Indian Rupees to Pakistan he wanted 15% commission. It's best to spend all your Indian Rupees in India and get Pakistani Rupees in the first town at an ATM. Other than that this border is fairly easy. Takes about 2-2,5 hours in total.

15:30 is the lates you can cross the border from Pakistan. We just made it, but were almost inside the ceremony with our van, the stadium was already full of people all cheering. Pakistan side took about an hour or less. And after crossing it took another hour or more on the Indian side, so we were not able to watch the ceremony.

Just crosse her today, the pakistani guy who stamps, your carnet chenged me 300 euro to 25.000 INR, i would think to good to be thruw but still no problem. Payed first toll gate alrady with his money. It took me 3.30 hours from my hotel in city-centre Lahore, to hotel in City-centre Amritsar. Compared with Taftan-border its a heaven an (pakistani)-earth.
