Forest road pull out. Nothing special just overnight wildcamp spot in Siuslaw National Forest.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Did not see any bus and it has rained a lot over the past week so this spot was unsuitable for parking. Drove past this spot for a few miles in the dark. Kept going up hill until finally found a level and spot on the left side of the road as the road widened out on a corner. It has decent Verizon signal.
Report Check-InStayed here for the week since I needed cell signal to work, was probably the biggest spot past the trashed campers, but before the intersection.
Do beware some cars fly down this road so I kept my dogs close or on leash. Also a nice officer stopped by, didn’t have an issue with my being there, but did mention there was someone who lived at the end of 216 (gated off dirt road in pic). Didn’t feel unsafe but just something to be aware of!
We drove maybe a mile and a half down the road, past the abandoned trailers, and found a nice level spot. The forest is absolutely beautiful and you can still hear the ocean some. We were happy with the spot. The road is paved and pretty well maintained.
Report Check-InThis road has lots of options in National Forest. The first few pullouts closest to 101 seemed best, beyond you'll get to burned out trailers and logging. Saw a large herd of elk at the exact pin. Did not stay.
Report Check-InI’m actually up a ways on the road, backed into a driveway to a fenced in water department site of some sort.
The old spot is now part of firewood logging operation and is very muddy.
2 bars of Verizon was a nice surprise.
Report Check-InI drove out to this spot but didn’t end up staying. There is a lot of trash and I had a feeling that someone might bother me. If I was with someone else maybe it would have been okay, but as a solo traveler I felt more comfortable leaving. There is no prohibition sign!
Report Check-Inlike describe, we stay 1 night, good and quiete place
