Description

A very good museum really worth visiting.

NOTE: Additional details added by moderator:

Falun Mine was once the biggest copper mine in Europe and was known as Sweden’s treasure chest.
When the mine was closed in 1992, mining had been going on for 1000 years.
A tour of the mine takes about an hour. On the tour there are many steps, and it is important that all visitors are able to walk without assistance all the way. Temperature inside the mine is around +5ºC, bring warm clothes and comfortable shoes.
All year round the World Heritage House and several historic buildings are open, and the mine walk gives an exciting view over the Great Pit, the town of Falun...
There are also nice shops, cafés, and a restaurant on the site.

Well organised Museum. You can spend hours doing the underground tour, walking around the big open air mine, visiting the museum on the main building, having a snack at the restaurant...
Bring warm clothes and rugged shoes...
