We got stuck on the bridge during a protest road block. So we turned around and headed for the river. There is plenty of room, big rig accessible. A few different spots. The trail network on the other side looks nicer but we didn’t check that out.
We asked locals if it was a safe place to stay and they said yes “muy tranquillo”.
Restaurant on other side of the bridge. Location has good Movistar reception. Likely has Claro / Digicel too.

Great camping spot! Very quiet and peaceful (it rained and that drove away the people with speakers). Rocky river shore and easy river access. No road noise.
Report Check-InWe were informed by a local family that this place is safe during the day but not at night and “if the robbers don’t get you here, the police will come and move you”. They also said the mountains are much safer for camping.
