Flat and quiet place for the night. Sunrise was beautiful

Report Check-In

Good night’s sleep. Very little traffic, the rest as stated. For my RV, I could only stay at trailhead. I saw some pickup trucks go down one of the paths just to the right of the metal Bloody Shins sign. All paths past the trailhead are rutted. Stayed on a Monday night. Was able to stream on AT&T. Had a nice walk.

Great spot for a night stop over. Close to a few residential homes but very much legal and safe. Confirmed with a local at the bar that nobody local minds either. Just keep it clean as always :)

Spent the night here. Very quiet and peaceful. Beautiful night sky full of stars. We had just finished a delicious dinner at the nearby (2 miles away) The Martin Hotel which is a Basque restaurant. One other vehicle arrived sometime during the night. We had a beautiful sunrise overlooking the sagebrush & mountain bike trails and surrounding mountains. We would definitely return again.

Arrived around 5pm on a Sunday and had the place to myself. Saw a few local folks headed out for a run. Watched the horses frolic in the pasture next to me. Concrete picnic tables are nice. It’s quiet here. Feel safe. Can hear the train off in the distance, but not overbearing. Full Verizon bars. Would definitely return.

We were there on a Saturday night. There were so many cars driving by overnight, turning around, come and go… Also the neighborhood dogs were barking for hours... We were only two vans, but it was so NOT quiet for the rest! I don't recommend this place.

Report Check-In

Yea app Full bars for Verizon. Quiet. Only one other van when we were here.
Note: Google maps directs you on a semi-rough dirt road (Rim Road). Ignore this and down Great Basin Avenue in Winnemucca to Kluncy Canyon road. This takes you straight in to the spot.

Great place to crash for the night. Felt safe for any girls traveling alone I had no issues. One car came and drove around at 3am blasting music and talking loudly but it didn’t last long. Other than that it was quiet and peaceful.

Beautiful location on BLM land just outside Winnemucca. Gravel parking lot for hiking/biking/offroading, with a couple of clean picnic tables and a trash bin but no other amenities. Full bars Verizon LTE. Room for several RVs, probably best under 30’. We stayed one Friday night in a 21’ van; everyone else left by 11pm. It was mostly quiet, save for nighttime desert sounds and the odd train faintly in the distance. Locals frequent the place for recreation, and we saw a family doing a photoshoot against the snow-covered mountains in the background as we were leaving Saturday morning.

such a neat place. I love boondocking and it's super super easy to get here. I'm the only one here and staying the night and riding the trails in the morning. will update if anything happens overnight but seems like a great spot

got here after dark so stayed in the main lot. some locals showed up infrequently and were not loud, but there is a cattle grate at the entrance that you will hear every time some one crosses. slept peacefully. a few locals showed up in the morning to walk dogs. did not notice any other vehicle dwellers. would stay here again. strong Verizon 4g.

As described previously. Great little place, and easy to find a level spot. The mountains are gorgeous!

Report Check-In

Nothing fancy, but a large, safe spot to boondock for the night. Pretty quiet once evening comes. When we arrived, one of the local residents was picking up trash and shoveling dog poop. He said he does this on a regular basis. The place gets pretty trashed, and he was embarrassed for others to see it that way. What a conscientious and proud citizen...the world needs more like him! We helped with trash and broken glass removal, and had some great conversations.

Report Check-In

What a great spot. No frills with a fantastic view and a bunch of trail heads right at your door. No sun coverage or woods, just open dirt roads. Probably fun for mountain biking or off roading if you're into that. We didn't encounter any other RVs, just a few cars coming for a hike or driving through the entrance.

The only real bummer is the amount of broken glass scattered through the edge of the brush just outside the open dirt lot. Tons of broken beer bottles, too much for one person to clean up, all around the picnic tables and nearby. It is genuinely dangerous for a dog or child. Hopefully some generous visitors can help clean it up.

We had fast cell reception speeds for T-Mobile, Verizon, and ATT, although they seemed to get worse towards the end of our visit. Could just be unreliable, but certainly possible to get good internet.

We stayed the night. A few cars driving around at night but they were going slow so not too much noise or dust.

Only one person came to the trailhead before we woke up.

Quiet night sleep, fairly level but blocks would definitely help.

Wonderful place to stay. There are no facilities. Felt very safe. A lot of activity during day light with people/dogs hiking and families mountain biking. Very quiet during the night. Next to a very nice neighborhood. Highly recommend staying here. Hope to try it out again and do some hiking or biking.

Quiet. Gravel, fairly level. Large parking area. Close to residential houses.Giant Mormon crickets here now. Very comfortable for me.

I decided to checkout this spot after skipping Rye Patch State Rec Area (the campgrounds were pretty packed at the other place and cost $15+ ... I didn’t have change or checks to pay the fee) Ultimately, I’m really glad I stayed here instead. I had the place all to myself, it was very easy to get to and find. It’s very close to a quiet neighborhood and local high school. There was some noise until about 10pm from some off road dune buggy type vehicles but nothing more. I felt safe and the morning sunrise was wonderful.
