Latest Check-Ins

As advertised, great spot with easy access.

Report Check-In

Stayed here 3 nights, As mentioned the road is hard packed red dirt with lots of rocks jutting up from the road.,

Report Check-In

One of our favorite camp spots to date! A bunch of vans/RVs/schoolies at the end of the long washboard road, but we went further up (pretty rocky, 4x4 and high clearance recommended but not necessary for all the spots further up). Good AT&T and Verizon service and clean! Many fire pits and a lot of wood.

We did encounter a grouchy park ranger on our way out who told us we would be stuck in the park until they opened it back up. Ended up letting us leave but we checked and there were still other people there, no signs saying closed and the gate was open. We ended up coming back two nights later, was open and no one mentioned anything about being closed!

The original coordinates took us to the wrong place but we eventually found our way. 2 miles or so of heavily washboard road leads you to a rocky road with pull offs. quiet and clean the sites are mostly level. 1-2 bars verizon service.

Report Check-In

Huge are big enough for A 40 rig gathering with camping away from the common area too. Great spot.

Report Check-In

Love this place. Beautiful scenery and not trashed. The road is rough and rocky but relatively even so like others said go slow and all should be fine. Careful if it's rained recently the mud gets thick under you real quick and I got stuck briefly but drove right out of it in the morning, 🤭yea whoops.
Great Verizon signal.

Report Check-In

nice location. good TMobile connection. road is rough, we didn't go too high up after the entry sign. lots of dispersed places. luckily we drove a little past the other campers since some have been idling plus heavy screaming in the morning. 14 days max

Report Check-In

My Chevy G1500 made it fine, road a bit rough so only went as far as the entry fence. Stayed 14days no issue. Some rvs went up further but I didn’t want to risk it. Also note that this is a popular ATV spot so one night it was packed with riders but they’re usually gone by dusk. Some left a bunch of beer bottles & trash unfortunately.

Report Check-In

Heavily washboarded road, but still ok for most rigs. Go slow and don't go far past the entrance sign. Good T Mobile service. Nice views of Penrose. Busy with ATV traffic during the day but peaceful at night.

Report Check-In

Found a free camping spot closer in than the coordinates due to the washboard road. Relatively flat, large, semi-private spot with a fire ring. Pretty quiet and nice views. Looked like you can do some hiking there as well but we didn't have time just staying one night. Two bars Verizon signal. Not great for dogs because of the sand spurs and cacti, but dogs are allowed.

Report Check-In

great place, quiet and nice once you get here, a little rough rd but doable with 2wd and a trailer. great TMobile service. few scratchy caterers on the way but felt very safe.

Report Check-In

hey nice to stay for few days. scratchy people when you enter the common but drive about a mile and it's quiet. great 5g TMobile service. rough road but doable with 2wd. and a trailer.

Report Check-In

Nice dispersed area for camping up to 14 days. One set of pit toilets as you enter the area nut we stayed about 1/2 further up the road for some privacy. Some areas have beautiful views of the mountains towards the Southwest.

Report Check-In

Great BLM land with nice ORV/MTB accommodations. Two bars of Verizon LTE most of the time but nowhere as beautiful as phantom canyon just down the road. Regardless it was a nice place to spend a few days

Report Check-In

Three bars of LTE through AT&T, the best service we’ve had out in nature. Lots of gnats and mosquitoes , just a part of summer. The road up here is very rocky! A couple of smaller cars were making the drive but it is rough. Take it slow or pro master was fine but it’s not an easy rd:)

Report Check-In

Exactly as described 3 bars Verizon service. Lots of area for the dogs to run and play

Report Check-In

Nice, quite, roads are pretty nice. Don’t go all the way back to the end, very rocky. The main part is open and nice.

Report Check-In

Very nice OHV area with lots of primitive camping spots. very quiet during the weekdays

Report Check-In

Some really good camping spots along a dirt road. Road is a little bumpy but not too bad at all for any vehicle.

Report Check-In

Arrived in late evening in Ram Camper Van. Road rough but manageable. Large, flat clearing and we were the only vehicle. Surrounded by mountains and lights from area towns. Big sky. Beautiful morning. Crazy windy today.

Report Check-In

Would be a nice place to camp but it’s on the front range so be ready for lots of people, disrespectful frangers and their side by sides. Woke up to a group parking their trailers in the spot I was camping. No respect.

Report Check-In

Bumpy road getting to the land for camping but do-able in the front wheel drive sprinter van. Plenty of flat land to camp. It was dark when we got here so I’m excited to see the view tomorrow AM. Plenty of stars out tonight’

Report Check-In

Pretty popular spot. Easy to get to from the highway but far enough that there’s no highway noise. Nothing too spectacular about this place but more than good enough for a night’s sleep. Pit toilet and good service with AT&T.

Report Check-In

Great wide open place to stay. There are places much closer to camp overnight as soon as you see the Penrose Commons signs. The further you go, the rougher the road gets. We have a 42 ft 5th wheel and made it fine but it was a SLOW ride. Good cell coverage.

Report Check-In

awesome place to grab a nights sleep.
