Something not right?

Description

This a family owned area on a hill top with lots of petrified trees. Admission is free, you just need to register at the office of the Elk Creek Lodge. What is kind of special here is that many pieces have a brownish color hence they are optically difficult to distinguish from real wood. Absolutely worth visiting!

The family also runs a nice campground, which we did not use so I cannot give details on this.

We can update info on this place:
34$ for a couple if you don't hook up to anything
5$ extra per child
Then you can use shower, pool, dump and drinking water for free.
But petrified forest is to pay apart 10$ per adult and 5$ per child.
If you don't sleep here dump is 10$ and drinking water tank filling is 5$ extra.
There also are separate prices for swimming pool if ever you just want to stop for that.
Laundromat available also, it is payable in extra 2$ per laundry and 75cents for 1h drying. Don't know if you can use that without sleeping... and don't know the prices for hook ups!

The Petrified Forest is on Elk Creek Campground. Staying at the campground gives you free admission. I'm staying in a full hookup site for $150+tax.$159 total. Weekly rate, be sure to ask for it! It's late April, so it's off season. Sites are close, but not bad. There's potable water and dump station. Bathrooms are decent and have showers. There's laundry, playground, and pool opens 5/15. Was told Wifi is being installed soon. Cell signals are poor. I have AT&T and also T-Mobile. It's very quiet here, other than the turkeys. The office staff is very helpful. If you're in town, it's by far the cheapest and not a bad place. I'll stay again.
