This place is permanently closed.

Report Check-In

Lots of cones and no parking signs. This spot is closed.

Report Check-In

Good spot. Steepy, but could make it in a 2WD 1990 Vanagon. But! As someone else mentioned, I got 4 nails in my tire. I pretty much think they got there on this spot. I would avoid in the future.

Report Check-In

Fantastic gravel lot with fantastic views. Got here early on a Monday afternoon and was full by dusk with campers, vans and Overlanders. Easy drive up a dirt road with switchbacks.

Report Check-In

About a 10 minute drive up a dirt road from highway 70. Great view of the city from above. Not a secluded spot - there were 4 when I arrived around 9p and 8 when I left in the morning. AT&T has cell / internet coverage.

Report Check-In

Stayed here 9/05/2023 and had a great stay in a 2021 Winnebago. There were very few people near us and it got down to 45 ° at night

Report Check-In

Such a lovely climb up the mountain. spoke to locals to make sure people in town felt safe - three woman alone and all. the view of the stars is incredible and i’m looking forward to waking up tomorrow am. I have full AT&T service up here.

Report Check-In

We stayed here last year for a few nights. One night this year, the road is a little worse for wear because of all the snow and rain this last season, but still easily drivable by any vehicle.

Beautiful views.

Good T-Mobile and Verizon signal.

Report Check-In

Amazing view perfect stay. Had no issues here. Made it up in a big old ford econoline RWD

Report Check-In

Halfway up this dirt road you’ll see a small sign for public lands confirming this is a BLM site. The road is definitely steep and has sharp turns, could be dangerous in bad weather, but our low clearance 2 wheel drive vehicle made it up just fine. As others have said, big flat dirt lot at the top of the mountain. No amenities. Amazing views of the city below. Didn’t see any tents but there were about 5 other RVs and cars or trucks here for the night. No sign of parties, it was a quiet night and it was Saturday. Full bars of cell coverage. Great spot for a night or a few and we would definitely stop again!

Report Check-In

I wasn’t sure how tent camping would work based on previous reviews. The area is def more for vans/skoolies or any other form of sleeping in a vehicle. I did find a small pull out maybe 100 yards past the main big lot. Can fit my truck and probably 2 tents, but on a dirt pad/road. I didn’t venture any further.

Report Check-In

Good place for the night. 3 bars of Verizon. Views over the city, as well as the canyon on the backside. Seems like a hang out for the townies - but everyone nice. Any vehicle can make the trip in good weather.

Report Check-In

As you drive up to Glenwood Caverns adventure Park on Transfer Trail (dirt road) you will find a large lookout with lovely views all around. Sign says no campfires. No amenities.

Report Check-In

BLM land. open area at the top for car camping. we used small area with a gate to tie hammocks off the car. Great for a nights stay of passing through. located 4 minutes fight up the hill from town. views are phenomenal. will use again for passing through.

Report Check-In

BLM land. Open space, large lot with a side chateau for hanging hammocks. great location for a quick nights stay right inside town almost. Ran into locals who said everyone enjoys using that spot (for good and bad uses). The night we stayed there was a large group of about 25 cars gathered and partying into the early evening. They turned down the loudusic around 11 or so. very respectful. all and all a great one night stay for passing through. will use again, hopefully it stays like this.

Report Check-In

Nice open lot. Good reception and beautiful views. The highway noise isn’t too bad and calms down at night.

Report Check-In

Large Parking lot over looking Glenwood Springs. Great views. Great ATT cell signal. Good overnight spot…probably not a hang out spot. Some dumping and industrial equipment.

Report Check-In

I have stayed here many times. Good spot for summer. The switch backs going up can be a little bit tricky with spring runoff, but doable in a 2WD. At the top there is a big lot with space for multiple rigs. Not the most level spot with pot holes. Great place to stay in Glenwood without staying in Glenwood. PS this seems to be a spot for some young gathering on the weekends.

Report Check-In

My big rig 31ft made it to the spot but wouldn’t recommend going any higher. The roads were rough and bumpy but it was doable after snow had been cleared and melted. Steep and sharp corners for long rigs. Did slip around after passing the spot, didn’t stay the night, headed to the city and found a parking spot there for the night since the spot seemed to be occupied. Not a lot of room for multiple campers!

Report Check-In

Good spot for a great sunset and fun steep, scenic drive up. A good amount of hunters and ATVs even for a Monday, but overall everyone very respectful of noise. One warning: it’s a road used by a lot of trucks. I got a screw stuck in my tire which left us having to put on our spare in the morning. Just unlucky most likely, but maybe not the spot for you if you’re worried about some machinery/tools scattered on the road up.

Report Check-In

Giant flat log on the left while driving up transfer trail. Good spot for many rigs/vans. Great views of the town and mountains.

Report Check-In

We made it up and down in a 30ft skoolie and with us a 37ft fifth wheel also. It is a steep and curvy road but if you just take it slow there shouldn't be any issues. Alot of people do come here with 4x4 vehicles but we didn't find the noise excessive or disturbing. It's a big lot at the top with plenty of space for multiple rigs. Just take it slow and enjoy the view!

Report Check-In

One of the few legit places near Glenwood Springs. It was pretty quite for us after memorial day weekend. The hill is steep and windy but was well graded. There was service traffic for the top of the gondola. A good place to stage if you are visiting the town or the hot springs.

Report Check-In

Super curvy windy dirt road to get to the top of a mountain. We’re in a 32ft Skoolie and it made it up the mountain, it was over heating though. Large lot at the top but it has tons of dips and holes in the dirt. We were the only ones here and it was a quiet night.

Report Check-In

Beautiful view. Made it up the incline in a Prius without 4x4. Very steep but do-able. Would not recommend if it was icy or snowing.

Report Check-In

Definitely a long windy road up a steep hill. Lots of pull offs but if you keep going you’ll end up at a big parking lot that is pretty level. Lots of rigs and vans there when we arrived at night. Nice to know people were around. We drove up in a Ford truck that is NOT a 4x4 with a truck bed camper attached and we made it up and down fine.

Report Check-In

Stayed for one night with 22 ft van - worked well. Nice view of hills and town. A lot of through traffic in the morning. Drive up dirt road to spot is very doable since it was dry. I could see it being very difficult with snow or after a heavy rain.

Report Check-In

neat place to stay for a night, way up high on a road that overlooks the canyon and Glenwood. traffic going by for the employees of the adventure park, and lots of ATVs in the morning unloading and heading up the trail.

Report Check-In

decent sized parking lot....(bluff area)
atop a curvy road with serious ascent.

ROAD: repeatedly warning marked -
.....for frequent
.....Large Mining Truck Traffic

Most that are "PARKED" here
are Day Users [Vehicles w/ Trailers]
•Unloading recreational vehicles
•to head further into BLM area.

.....Lots of THRU Traffic HERE also.....
•Jeeps
•Dirt bikes
•High Clearance Vehicles
•ATV's
•Side by Sides
•ETC

.....this dispersed area is also of course
............near/above ~ The Mining Area

***on a different note****
.....I stayed here only a few days.....
.....but my last day
the outside my RV became covered
in !Hundreds! of teeny tiny bugs (mites)
.....with the capability of biting
It had rained briefly during the night
*assuming they must be in the sand
*and were disturbed by the weather.

I was looking for something
with a little more solitude
..... so not a good match personally

But if you need......
somewhere to park for the night
that's not to far off the beaten path
....I think this would do the trick.

Report Check-In

WINTER TIME DO NOT COME UP HERE IF YOU DO NOT HAVE 4x4 or chains for your tires. We got stuck and had to slide backwards in our van.

Report Check-In
