only one campground was open in the off season, but there were still plenty of spots.
Room for big rigs and/or tenting. Picnic table and fire pit at every pad.

Established sites with a fire ring, large picnic table, and parking area. I've done both the tent and camper. Site 65 is great for waking up, overlooking the lake, and watching the sun come up. No cell reception with Cellcom. Toilets are cleaned multiple times per day when we stayed there. Our site didn't have much shade. The interior sites do. Only annoying thing was a camper with motion lights on a windy night. Z the flashlight, the lantern, and the fire and you will see EVERY star on a clear night.

One loop was open in October and we had choice of about 4 or 5 spots when we came in around 4pm on a Saturday of a holiday weekend. This was a super quiet campground, other than someone running a generator off and on all night. They were far enough away to not have that be annoying. No campground host that we could see in October but the pit toilets were still open and not too smelly. We could’ve had a great spot right on the edge of the lake but it was super windy there and the spot we chose was not nearly as windy. Since we were in a tent in October, that worked out to be a great plan. Beautiful area! We camp in the Black Hills often and will be adding this to our list of spots to try again another day. Price for off-season camping was $10 paid at the iron ranger.

AMAZING campground if you are looking for some primitive camping! Great staff, safe area, very quiet, and gorgeous views of the lake. No cell service, you get a bar when you get to the highway, but didn’t have a lot of luck until I got to Hill City about 5 miles away. Update, it was $25/night when I visited in May 2021.
