Gravel parking area off the road to the lighthouse. Single lane gravel road suitable for cars and 2WD trucks. B-class not recommended. Great views and just enough wind to keep the nippers down. Still requires a further hike up to the lighthouse.

Just beautiful. Sea birds. Whales. Waves pounding.
We passed a peaceful night with one other RV. Plenty of room. No one bothered us.
Great town. Lovely area. Highly recommend.
Report Check-InMy favorite spot in recent 15 nights in Newfoundland. This spot has a 360 view of ocean and islands. Btw we are off season in May and the only camper on this island.
Report Check-InI wouldn't go on this road with anything more than a b class with good road clearance since the wheel tracks are well worn in some spots. It is a single lane and very potholed. The parking area and adjacent grassy spot are reasonably flat with fantastic views. Nothing there other than a parking lot area. The lighthouse is a further walk inaccessible by car.
Report Check-InCan confirm that you can’t drive all the way up to the lighthouse anymore (there’s a barricade), but you can still get up to this spot and it’s spectacular. Gorgeous views, ocean on both sides. Woman at the museum said if you stand there long enough, you’ll definitely spot a whale. Space for lots of people. I didn’t stay because I needed to get somewhere else, but I talked to a lighthouse picnic staff who said it’s absolutely ok to camp there and encouraged me to do so and enjoy! Said there are usually lots of people doing it. Some people even pitch tents up at the lighthouse, which is definitely worth the walk up the hill, btw! The colony of Avalon museum and archeological tour is also fabulous. What a magical place.
Report Check-InSign at entrance to road clearly says no RVs or buses beyond a certain point. We respected the sign and parked near the visitor centre
Report Check-Inyou can not reach the lighthouse bij car, there is a barrier. a nice walk up with gordeous views. and stay overnigt at the small gravel parking and look over the ocean left and right, beatifull but no whales. very quiet we were the only ones after 7 o' clock pm. road is oké for all kind of vehicules.
Report Check-InGravel parking area across from yellow benches and cannon with historical information board. Walk the gravel road to the lighthouse and enjoy more hiking trails there. Several people came by to enjoy the area and left. Room enough for 2-3 vans. Good cell service and trash cans nearby. The other parking area closer to the lighthouse could also be an option. A couple on bicycles set up a tent in the field past this spot toward the lighthouse.
