Parking lot just off Rt. 1 bridge in Machias overlooking waterfall/rapids of the Machias River. Signs specifically PERMIT overnight parking. Across the street from a laundromat and restaurant, groceries just up the road. Away from road noise, streetlights nearby. 4 bars of Verizon service.

I liked this one better than the other overnight parking area across the road, because this one as a grassy area behind the spots (good for pups and backing up if you are a longer van), as the other one has a guardrail. The one behind the general store also had quite a bit of trash.
Both areas have free Wi-Fi.
Area is landscaped and clean!
Great spot on the River, make sure to came in overnight spots. When we pulled in another van was parked here. Right in town and across the street from a cute laundromat
Report Check-InSerene place to stay overnight! Signs still designate overnight parking between signs. Lovely waterfalls to fall asleep to and explore in the morning. (Called Bad Little Falls)

great stay! Quiet and explicitly legal between the signs. Good public wifi hotspot. Couldn't resist walking around the falls in the morning - beautiful.
This is really cool of the town to do so let's be sure to keep it clean and respectful!
Report Check-InNice little parking lot with about 6 to 7 overnight spots. A longer rig than a van would fit here too!
Traffic is pretty light. Town cops do drive by the lot at night.
As others have said nice spot for the night. There is a restroom at Freshie’s Market close by.
