Description

Beautiful, silent place to camp where a few piles of gravel are stored for highway crews. Can be windy, but big 360-degree views. No one else was here or even came by. Can’t hear highway noise. Flat & level. 3 bars of T-Mobile.

I have 5 bars AT&T 5G here. But I drove a couple minutes southeast to get away from the main road just a bit more (to the BLM land just west of Baker)

At least a dozen of us here tonight over a busy eclipse weekend. Easy access for any size rig, there are several class a motorhomes w/ tow vehicles & also trailers.
Everyone was polite and kept to themselves.
Gorgeous night sky.
Verizon is 3 bars 3G. Data barely worked during the day but first thing in the morning before everyone was awake it worked well.

Forgot to say, it was cold and windy as soon as the sun went down so make sure you come prepared. But very quiet.

Report Check-In

Lots of areas to park any size rig. We pulled in yesterday because all the campgrounds in Great Basin National Park were full due to the eclipse on Saturday. Not a whole lot around this area but a good place to stay if the National Park is full, we’ll have an unobstructed view of the eclipse if weather permits.

Private area away from the road. One other group was there for the night but there was so much space it was like nobody else was even there. Great spot!

Report Check-In

No issues surprisingly quiet being close to the highway. Easy stay after Great Basin NP

Report Check-In

Not entirely sure this was BLM but had no problems for the night. One other car but lots of space to spread out behind the rock/sand piles. Good view of mountains. No facilities. Verizon data didn’t work.

Also wanted to add that ATT service is excellent.

We had a super quite night here! It gets so hot in the morning. No one bothered us. couple cars till midnight after that so quite and peaceful.

Have fun with watching the Milky Way!

Awesome place to stay. Only camper for the night and we stayed on the other side of the middle gravel pile for a small amount of privacy (although it probably isn't needed.) "Hike" to the top of the middle pile at night it is fairly flat and perfect for star gazing or even sleeping for the night.

Simple spot, lots of level area. I set up my pop up in the lower “pit” for less road noise. Only camper for the night. Very convenient to visit Great Basin Park!

Report Check-In

Quite. Good cell phone reception. 4bars 5G on TMobile and 4bars Roaming on Verizon. Lots of place for a few rigs. Just 5minutes from Great Basin NP visitor center. GREAT stargazing at night. It gets DARK here.

Report Check-In

Stayed the night here and wasn’t bothered.

No clearance needed. Gravel piles make nice wind break. Quiet.

You'll want to pull down the driveway that is right before the Ioverlander marker for this site! I had no problems getting in with my 2wd, 170wb sprinter van. I pulled around behind one of the large gravel piles to stay a little hidden. No noise from the highway, the stars were beautiful. 5 bars of Restricted with Verizon (phone calls only).

Report Check-In

You’ll need super high clearance to get here. Also it’s very close to the highway

Short gravel side road creates nice little pull-off in front of fenced gravel storage area. Peaceful place to spend the night, no issues here. Insane stargazing. The nearby power lines can be heard humming at times.
