ARTP & RNP exit Gate | Checkpoint

Its the only way to enter the park now, since the pantoon in Sandelingdrif is not working anymore (and nobody knows when it will be back). They give you a paper here and you need to go register and pay at the gates in Sandelingdrif. You can pay by card there.
We paid 292 pp for the park fee + 277 for camping (dont know exactly how they get those random numbers). So one night and 2 days in the park for 2 people was 869 Rands. Way way WAY too expansive in our opinion.
The scenery is nice in some places but if you have explored Namibia before, it will honnestly feel a bit boring compared to everything you have already seen.
The lady at the reception waited until we already paid to tell us that some roads were not accessible anymore and that 2 campsites were not running (Richtesberg and Kokerboomkloof)... That was very disapointing as we wanting to sleep at Kokerboomkloof, but it also meant that everybody was sleeping at the same place (De Hoop) and the campsite was very crowded.
Some roads inside the park are very corrugated : Sandelingdrif to De Hoop, by example, is pure torture.
Road to come here from Alexander Bay is also very corrugated.
The park feels quite run down and weirdly managed (roads not really maintened, mining inside the park, toilets out of work in campsites, overpriced...).
Helskloof pass is definitly the highlight. You need 4x4 and using low range can be more comfortable for some rocky sections.

This is an exit gate for Richtersveld. You get an exit permit when you check in at Sendelingsdrif. No extra payment to go one way.

you need a permit to exit here but if you are going back to Sendelingsdrift you dont need. We did a Loop Sendlingsdrift-de Hoop- Richtersberg - Kokerboomkloof (stayed the night) - Helkloof Pass (dont miss it!)- Sendlingsdrift in 9 hours driving in total. The gate here is just for exit we heard...
