Ferries stop when the wind is very bad, causing very long back-log queues.
Ferries run every half hour and take about half an hour.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
19k for our large van. only took like 20 minutes to cross. you have to get out and go to the pay station in the corner once in the boat and under way, they will not come to your car and pay at the window. free wifi onboard was pretty good.
Report Check-InArrived around 10:40. The ferry there was a ship for gas trucks only so we had to wait a few minutes for the next one. We paid on the ferry. It cost 20.000 Chilean pesos for the truck camper. We were told that paying by debit is cheaper, although they will accept cash or card and either Chilean or Argentinian pesos. Arrived on the other side at about 11:40.
Report Check-InWe arrived around 8:45am with only one other car in front of us in line. The ferry arrived a little after 9am, but they only loaded gas trucks, so we had to wait for the next one. Finally boarded around 10am. It was fairly windy (~25mph) but no weather delays.
Report Check-InQuick and easy today- no winds.
Price increase for new year.
Minibus or motorhome- $24,500cp
Can pay in cash or card.
Your experience may vary.
We waited like 2hours in the car line because the ferry couldn't work because of the strong winds.. at 9pm, we could finally cross. we paid 18000 pesos chilenos. There was policía with dogs checking the cars..if you still have coca leaves from Bolivia, throw them aways,it is strictly forbidden in Chile !
have a good trip ✌️
Report Check-InDon’t rely on the ferry running every 30 mins in high winds! We had no problem on the way south, but on our return trip the winds were so strong they stopped running the ferry for 4 hours and the line got very backed up. We didn’t make it to the other side til almost midnight after a long wait. Good luck.

www.tranportestierradelfuego.cl
I added a picture of the price list.
Price per car no matter what size is CLP 16‘400.
There is a boleteria on board where you have to buy the ticket while crossing.
Just drive on the ferry, a person will come to collect the money. The price is still 16.400 CP$ but it is a bit more expensive AR$ 1.830. When we went on, only cash allowed!
Report Check-In1800 pesos argertinos for a couple and our van Ducato. You can pay using pesos del Chile. 20 minutes to cross.

Report Check-InPretty much straight forward. Queue in the line with your car, wait for cars to start boarding and drive into the boat when they tell you. Once on the boat you can walk around and go back to your car when arriving at the other side. Someone will pass on your car asking for the money. For us it was 16400 CLP or 1500 ARS (Sep 07 2019). They were not taking credit cards.
Report Check-InGot here just as the ferry was arriving. Fairly windy but it was still running. You pay on board the ferry- 16,400CLP at the moment. Trip was quick.
Report Check-InPrice update is now 1300 ARS due to exchange rate. Just queue with the other cars and then they'll let you in once the ferry arrives. No fuss ferry journey. Weather conditions have been great regardless of the winter everybody warned us about.

Report Check-In*Update* prices on our return journey was 9800 (4400 CLP per bike). Other prices also now increased.
Cost for 2 motorbikes including 2 riders was 9000 CLP in total. You can also pay in ARG pesos which I think was 1000 pesos. Pay on board in cashier office. Windy but good, quick crossing however stay with the bike, or if alone ask one of the staff to get your ticket because for us the waves were side on causing a lot of rocking side to side and the bikes wouldn't have stayed upright without assistance.
Report Check-InNow 15000CLP for a car, cheaper to pay in chilean peso because it was 1000 arg which was a fair bit more
Report Check-In4500clp for a motorcycle. The wind was so bad the ferry couldn't hold position on the loading ramp so everyone just had to drive on quickly while it slid sideways.
They had to reposition in the middle of loading as the ferry slipped off the ramp.

15,000 Chilean pesos per vehicle. Passengers don’t pay. You can also pay with Argentinean pesos but it’s cheaper in Chilean currency.
Report Check-InEasy ferry. Park in the line of cars. No need to buy tickets, you pay on the ferry. Boats arrive aprox every 30 minutes but took us an hour to board since the first ferry filled up with trucks. 15,000CLP or 600ARS for our truck w/camper. Paying in CLP is currently a better deal.
Report Check-InVery busy in high season. When we arrived, there was a line of 2.5 km and we had to wait over 2h to embark.
Don’t know the opening hours but it was still going at 8:30 pm and the line was still huge behind us.
Price was 15 000 pesos chilenos for a car.

Report Check-InStill 15.000 CLP, but 500 ARS for a car. We paid 680 ARS for a motor home.
Report Check-InWe hitchhiked, got into a car and due to the reason that the car owner paid the car we crossed for free, same when we left again in a truck it was for free...
Report Check-InFirst ferry after our arrival was full, waited 25 minute for the next while enjoying the cafe. 15,000 per vehicle & 9,000 for a small trailer.
Report Check-InQuick and Easy ! Ferry every quarter
Pay on board 15.000 CH / 470 ARG with a campervan 😉
Two lines: one for larger big rig trucks on the shoulder, and one for medium and small vehicles in the main travel lane. Feel free to pass the big rigs when approaching and join the shorter line.
We came here in the afternoon on a very windy day. The line was huge, and it turned out the ferries were not running at all. It's worth getting out and confirming that there's something to wait for. Also you can tune into FM 104.5, but strangely they play music for a long time before you'll hear any useful information.
Came back the next day while it was rainy but not too windy. Very smooth, only waited 5-10 minutes. The workers will load some larger trucks from the right-hand line, and fill in the second half of the boat with smaller cars.
Prices up to 440 ARP or 15.000 CLP. Follow signs to the cashier once you're boarded.
-Adam and Maggie of the Let's Not Panic podcast

Report Check-InWe paid 15.000 for our minivan - you just go into the office to pay, no one looks at the vehicle. No extra fee for passengers
Report Check-InThe ferry seems to run every half hour all year around. We paid $15'000 for a Land Rover Defender 130.
Report Check-InEven late in the season the ferries seem to be every half hour. Join the queue, drive on and pay onboard.
Report Check-InWe asked for permission in the big restaurant and parked right beside a closed market. Public restrooms available, not clean though. It's not a good wind shelter. Worth the view.
Report Check-InTrips are about every 30mins. Paid 15.000 for a pickup truck. Very shaky. Glad we didn't take the longer ferry from Punta Arenas.
Report Check-InFerry now costs AR365 or CH15,000 for cars, but our truck (iveco daily 4x4) had a price code '01' - AR500. We paid US $30 which is much cheaper than paying in ARs if you don't have CH pesos. Ferries stop when the wind is very bad, causing very long back-log queues.
