Something not right?

Description

This guesthouse is open from this season and has many names. However, it is the one on the right when you enter the village, right across the Nanga Parbat Hotel. The owner, Kosar, can help you with all kind of hikes. The guesthouse is basic but so are the prices (1500pr for private room with toilet, off-season 1000pr). The food is really good. Like in many places in Pakistan they will tell you that a guide is obligatory, but you can choose! We walked to the basecamp without a guide, easy track. However, we got the impression that the villagers in the valley are not that used to independent tourists so it might be comfortable to take a local with you.

Latest Check-Ins

We stayed at the Nanga Parbat guesthouse. Rooms available from 2000, 3000, and 5000. This time of year it gets pretty cold and there is no heating. Great place to start the hike to the basecamp(s). There is no restaurant in town so they also cooked for us simple meals but it was delicious.

Report Check-In

I think we stayed at the Hotel on the other side of the road, Nanga Parbat Hotel, slept in the van on the car park for 500 a night. But: The road to the village is a bit rough but doable in a 2wd van.

Regarding trekking: even after long discussion with the police it is not allowed to do the Trekk to the base camps on your own. You need a guide, a porter or a police man comes with you. We insisted, wouldn't pay for something we don't need and at the end we were partially accompanied by a police man. There are no security issues, the path is easy to find, glacier crossing is no problem but "it's their duty".
