Description

Boulder Beach Campground (Lake Mead National Recreation Area which is run by the National Park Service).

($20/day campsites)

Reservation by phone (there is no on-line) and the place is run by a third party - everyone was very nice. Check-in was easy and they have a small store with basics and souvenirs, etc. Unless you have an annual pass/access card (like America the Beautiful) then there is a fee to get in and get to the campground which is very near the entry where you pay the fee. Paid $45.xx for full hook-up after a 10% Good Sam discount for a back-in (but I was able to pull in). They have more expensive sites including Lake View, but I had a lake view (site 838) and was the only one in the section because it is summer (109° f at ~5:15 pm). No shade or trees in the section I am in and sparse elsewhere bar the occasional palm tree but that is not an issue for me. Should one want to swim in Lake Mead there are two ways to get there: 1) drive or 2) walk - I chose the latter and it is about .5 miles on way and goes through the park and then through some rough terrain (it is actually the dry part of Lake Mead (the water has been that low for years). Easy enough walk for the adventuresome. Took a shower post swim/walk. Showers were convenient, secure and clean but dated. Shower I used did not drain. Generally clean, again a bit dated and there are permanent mobile homes that share the site. Overall, for the amenities, I don’t believe it is a $45 value. This is the official Natl Rec Site campground, next to the more expensive and developed RV park. The campground is much nicer, and cheaper too. No showers, though, and only a few sites with hook-up. $20 per night.

not bad for a paid spot, $20/night or $10 with the pass. no hookups but there is water close to most sites. real toilets, no showers, as close to the beach as you can camp. tent pads at each site also. picnic tables (some are covered), fire ring/ grill, shade trees, level pads. dumpsters n dump station available. hosts in park. I don't normally stay in parks but the railroad trail is close by.

$20/day, $10/day with awesome pass. GENERATOR CITY, got noise canceling headphones? More than 100 campsites. Lots of trees with ok privacy. Toilets are clean. Good to stop in before seeing the dam. Good view of the lake. Walk away o the water in the morning.

Nice campsite, lovely sites, WiFi doesn't work and there are no showers. If you enter the park sometime after 6pm there's probably noone at the park entry booth and you can drive in without having to buy the 7 day pass for 25$

The entrance in the area is free, if you have the National Park Year Pass. Paid 20$/night. no electricity but drinking water at the most sites.
Mobile Signal is ok but not strong.
WiFi is very bad.
From May, 17th on, Reservation is needed, otherwise there are only 10 free places without a reservation.
US people let whole day long running their Generators for their AC. not quiet at daytime but in the night it's ok..Can recommend this Campground

Report Check-In

We have a park pass, so were able to get potable water and to dump our tanks free.

The fresh water valve acts like it doesn’t work, but it does...slowly.

Nice spot on Loop D.with a little shade, water view. Also protected a bit from the gale force winds, but still winds are miserable. Check the weather before you come. Great AT&T and Verizon.

Not closed! Needed a spot to stay for the night. Talked to a ranger at the Lake Meade visitor center and she said both this campground and Las Vegas Bay campground rarely fill up especially on weekdays. $20 for a site. First come first serve. Near the shore of Lake Meade which was nice, both for the views and hanging out. Water spigots, flush toilets, fire ring, picnic table, some sites have pavilion shelters. Some wheelchair accessible/ADA sites too.

Report Check-In

Some shrubs/bushes and a few trees for windbreak. Running water in the bathroom! You can also swim in the lake. Just wish the overnight fee was lower so I could come back more

Report Check-In

There is an alert on iOverlander that this place is closed, but I stayed at the RV park next door to it a few nights ago and the campground is very much open. I did not go over there, but I asked about it at the RV park and they said that there is a dump station and water fill, but no electric. I didn't ask about cost. I'm staying in the area for awhile, I'll run back over there and update this if I get more info, but it's most certainly open.
