So far one of our camping highlights in SA. The Zvakanaka farm is at very peaceful location, all camp places have their privacy + WC, shower and small kitchen corner. The little bar place with the beers and smooth wifi connection was a nice addition.
It’s best to drop a whatsapp message or email to Gail, to get the gate code.

We are back
Love to camp here.
Gail and Al have become friends over the years and we always enjoy their fantastic hospitality.
The showers are great
You get your own shower and toilet
Washing machine is so nice to have after camping for a week in Moz.
Beautiful setting and the sun kisses the mountains in the morning- just too spectacular a sight.

Report Check-In

Wow! It's such a great place!
Prices still as mentioned.

Would highly recommend to stay here for one night or a few days. We came for 1, stayed three 😉. Gail & Alistair are super helpful and friendly.

Report Check-In

We are back!
We know Al and Gail since 2019 and we love Zvakanaka and these two phantastic people. This Campground is one of the best in SA and your hosts are lovely and helpful people. Come and enjoy this beautiful place. We stay for 3 nights on our way to Mozambique and we enjoy every minute of our stay.

Report Check-In

Also loved it. Would come back anytime.

Camping is 190 pppn.
20 rand for the washing machine - they even provide the soap.

That’s a place where campers get spoiled <3

Report Check-In

This is Gail, owner of Zvakanaka Farm, self-catering accommodation and camping. The cost is R190pppn, children R90 (5 - 12). There are 5 sites, eqch site with private ablutions. Cell phone for Gail +27844004595. You can contact me any time for the code - not just when you are at the gate.

Report Check-In

The reviews were not exaggerated. What a fantastic camping area. Easily accommodated our Iveco Daily 4x4. We stayed at Sam’s campsite. Beautiful views of the mountains. Glorious sunset. The facilities were great. Ablutions were fantastic with great showers and toilets dedicated to each site. There is a free WiFi bar (honour system on the drinks) where you can sit and relax with unlimited WiFi! The hosts Gail and Al were so friendly and welcoming. They also helped us out when we had a rookie error trying to get our truck started after a little spring clean of the cab and knocked the battery off🤦‍♂️ We also did a small hike there. There are a number of hikes you can do from easy to strenuous. We highly recommended this site!

Report Check-In

Best camp area ever! Huge place, all surrounded by nature and nice views on mountains. Best drinking water ever (believe me, I am the kind of person that never taste difference in bottle water but this was the softest water ever). Best showers ever! Omg I miss these showers. And definitely best hosts ever; so friendly, supportive and really looked after us.

They built a ‘bullit bar’ - a nice warm place to chill and enjoy WiFi / coffee / tea. Which is a luxury when you are camping. All wood for fire included same as very nice natural tools.

Call them before you get to the gate as there is no signal near the gate. You can also call them few days before - they will already share the code with you! Gail and Al are the best ♥️

Report Check-In

We stayed 2 nights but already booked our next stay! Fabulous hosts and beautiful location. We stayed in Mandala's Cottage: fully furnished with all amenities, pool, washing machine, WiFi etc. Great hiking area too. Highly recommended.

Report Check-In

Beautiful campsite in the bush with everything you might need.

Report Check-In

What an amazing camp site. After weeks travelling around Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe it was wonderful to have such wonderful amenities. Each site has a gas cooker, sink, toilet and shower. Also a shelter from the rain.

There's a little 'bar' with WiFi, honesty bar, glasses, sink. A good place to shelter from the rain.

Phone Gail for the gate code before arrival if possible. Signal at the gate is low but a few metres down the road you can get signal and call.

Plenty of mobile internet signal at the sites.

100% recommendation for this wonderful place.

Report Check-In

Came for 1 night stayed 5......

What a beautiful place. campsites are very secluded in the Bush and have all a covered little kitchen. Braai and free firewood to use.

There is even a washing machine (20 rand).

Small refreshing pool, honesty bar with excellent free WiFi and you can go on a lovely hike (they're building a forest camp on the hill, would definitely come back for that).

Later in the week the most terrible rain broke out so they offered me a cottage, truly a little gem (private swimming pool and outside bath).

Host are incredibly nice and warm people and can advise you on almost everything you should need for your trip in SA or when crossing borders into Zim.

Camping 175 pppn, worth it

Call Gail for the code for the gate

Excellent camp site, but you really do need to phone or email ahead for a gate code or you won't be able to get in!

Brilliant. What a fantastic place to camp. Best we have been to in South Africa. Al and Gail have made such a wonderful place. We keep coming back!
Landy owners to boot!
Highly recommend.

Report Check-In

The word zvakanaka means everything is just right, or, in South African, lekker.
And you won't find a more lekker plek to overnight near the Beit Bridge border post or in the Soutpansberg than Zvakanaka Farm.

The secured 74 hectare property has secluded camp sites with all the amenities needed. Their ablutions are excellent with piping hot water for your showers.
Each camp site is unique and has undercover wash ups and gas stoves. They also have fully equipped self-catering cottages on the property. Gail is a unbelievable host and could not do more for us. We highly recommend this place..
I would contact her direct for bookings. 0844004595

What a pleasant surprise. We booked a while ago based on recommendations on I overlander. Superb hosts, excellent camping spots (Williams and Sams in particular). Clean ablutions with hot hot water. Ample firewood at no charge. Will certainly be back when we travel in this direction again. 10/10.

cannot recommend this place enough. the owners Al & Gail were amazingly accommodating and helpful. they've set up a few hikes around the surrounding area and toilets, showers and WiFi all function well.

Zvakanaka is open for business. Still a wonderful camping spot, one of my favourites on the way to the north. New pricing is in place, R175.00 pp absolutely well worth it! When last have you visited an honesty bar? Love it!!

Quaint camping site with amazing views of thr mountains, even in cloudy days. Very friendly owners.

Report Check-In

A beautiful camp. Ablutions are spotless and each campsite is well groomed and looked after. Each site has water, electricity, wood, stove and electricity, all under shelter. There are 2 areas to braai , either in the fire pit or at the built braai. The clouds were low and it was a little chilly on our visit so we had a few beers in the bullet bar that has an honesty fridge and fee WiFi. Fantastic. Alister, came to the site to greet and welcome us when we arrived and made us feel welcome and checked that we were comfortable. We only overnighted but will definitely use this place again and stay a little longer to do the walks and soak in the atmosphere.

Report Check-In

Back again 5 stars as always!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Report Check-In

What a wonderful and amazing place! In every detail you see the love and passion for offering a perfect campsite.

The view is stunning, the facilities top. You will find firewood and a barbecue ready, a gas herd, watercooker, sink, cooler and even a washingmaschine! For those who want to make the mistake of spending the time on the internet instead of the enjoying the nature there is free wlan in a nice little cabin, which contains also information regarding hiking and travelling.

The owners are warm-hearted persons and perfect hosts who helped us with the trip planning. Moreover they find out for us more possibility to go hiking nearby additional to the trail that starts and the campsite. Thanks a lot, we wish you all the best!

Report Check-In

YES YES YES!

Although it was raining and misty, it was a beautiful, well loved site. We will definitely be back to experience it in the sunshine! Just delightful!

Report Check-In

This is probably the best equipped campsite with the most welcoming hosts Gail and Al in the whole of Southern Africa! Definitely a 5 star recommendation. Electricity, shade, clean ablutions, a washing machine, a stove etc etc and the warm welcoming help and advice of the owners...unmatched!

Great place, friendly owners. We emailed ahead and booked and were given the gate code.

Report Check-In

Excellent place and friendly owners! Still 150 rand pppn. Maybe call ahead to get the code for the gate so you don’t have to wait around if they’re out and about - Ali’s number is 0828462408 and Gail’s number is 0844004595. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Report Check-In

Fantastic place as per all the other comments. Ideally bring a working SIM to call before, if not you'll have to wait at the gate until someone comes in/out, there is no other way.

If Gail and Al invite you for sundowners then you might even see the resident bush babies, though there are always small deer roaming around and even a water mongoose. Great hike up to the top too.

Al let us do an oil change while we were there which saved us a trip into town. Fantastic people.

Report Check-In

A little piece of heaven! Everything is very well thought through . You feel absolutely welcome and you will enjoy absolute privacy on your campsite. We also did the hike and it's really nice. We recommend this place!

All of the previous ratings and then some more. I travel and tour for a life and it's not often that you find a campsite as good as this one. This counts under our top 3 best campsites ever. Very friendly and hospitable owners. The piece and quiet plus the extremely awesome ablutions will have you come back again and again.

Report Check-In

One of the best camping sites ever, if not the best. Beautiful view, nicely designed and clean ablutions, delicious shower. Extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful owners Gail and Alistair who also respect everybody’s privacy. Prices still same. Having your own porch and kitchen is so luxurious. Hard to leave.

Very nice campsite. They have 3 campsites with a shelter with a small kitchen and one without shelter (shadys Johns). Try to get Sam‘s or William‘s. They are really nice with stunning views in the mountains. Very very nice owners! They built 2 more campsites when we were there, one with private Toilette and outdoor shower. All campsites cost the same 150 ZAR pppn

With shelter 100pppn

We stayed at Sams; a campsite with shelter, braai area working gas stove, sink, electricity and above all; a beautiful view.

Using laundry machine costs R20
Wifi is available at main house

There are monkeys in the area, so keep your food in the car.

Wow, this is realy a beautiful place.
If you are in the neighbourhood you have to spend at least 1 night here and do the walk uphill just to stretch you legs after riding all the days before ;-) But you will stay an extra night, that is for sure!
At the house there is a wifi hotspot.
Price still R100 pp.

Report Check-In

What a gorgeous place! Both the setting and the facilities. We planned to stay one night and are so glad we stayed two nights so that we could hike up the mountain trails on the farm and enjoy the views of the campsite below. Gail and Alistair have done quite a lot of camping themselves and it shows! They've thought of all the things you'd want to make for the perfect campsite. They are beautiful people and shared loads of helpful information with us on camping in Zimbabwe, a beautiful route to northern Kruger, a great bird watching app, etc. At 100 Rand per person per night it's a great value!

Report Check-In

Fantastic site, absolutely worth visiting, feels very secluded (it is !) and quite idyllic. 74 hectare property allowed to be wilderness and woodlands and not farmed.
Huge property with lots of wildlife and birds and self guided well marked walking trails.
74 hectares and yet just 4 camping spots and two very private and secluded cottages.
Lovely owners whom make you feel very welcome and at home, allowing you to share their small piece of paradise.
Each campsite has it's own water, powerpoint, simple kitchen, electric lights, shade shelter, brai and firepit.
Located at just over 1200 metres the area has lovely lush growth, great views and never gets too hot.
Zvakanaka calls itself 'exclusive camping' and the title is well justified, it most certainly is.
Make the effort to stay here and allow yourself time as you will not want to leave!
We stayed December 2016
R100 per person (though one site is slightly more basic and thus cheaper)
If you book via email the owners send confirmation with directions and code for the entry gate.
good 3G coverage.

Report Check-In

Very nice campsite with good ablutions and shelter with gasstove and water kettle. Friedly owners. We paid 100 ZAR p.p. including electricity and the luxery.

Report Check-In

For us this was the second time in about a year. A unique, quiet place where at the campsite every little detail has been taken care off. Your own shielded place and facilities. The owners have spoiled us with attention and care. Even if we have to make a serious detour next time on our way home, we will certainly go there again. Thanks!
