What a great pit stop. Yes, there is a waterfall, but so much more. Children's playground with a Zipline and many trails to wander around and explore. There are multiple freshwater springs and one large pool. Suspension bridges, getting soaked by the waterfall mist, and even though the sign says no dogs, there was no problem bringing ours in. Most trails are in Gaia so it is a good reference. There are a few restaurants and tiendas inside too. Cost is now $.50 per person.

We get really early by foot(6 am.) and there was nobody to charge a fee, we were alone all the way, and had breakfast on a  benche in front of the waterfall. Really nice place.

We've all seen a lot of waterfalls, I'm sure, but this is a really nice little detour around Otavalo. There is a big parking lot ($1) and a short but very peaceful hike through the woods to la cascada. 20m tall and with a lot of refreshing spray. Quite a few other things to see along the trail and you can tell the local indigenous community has put a lot of effort into making this a nice place to visit. Entry was free but we left a donation of a dollar apiece which was appreciated.
