Description

What a dream! A beautiful eco-friendly campsite set in the wilderness hills of Bisil. Stayed here 3 nights en route to Amboseli National Park (about 2.5 hr drive down the scenic backroad). There is a swimming pool, and a lovely open air shower (with hot water) and toilet. At night we had a campfire and could hear hyenas laughing nearby! Also did an incredible hike up Buffalo hill which is on the property where we saw Kilimanjaro!!!! Staff extremely friendly and welcoming. 4x4 recommended for drive way. MUST CALL AHEAD! +254722866177 - phone or WhatsApp Pete. Was a bargain for US$15 / 1500 shillings pppn

If you expect a wilderness camp it is definitely a dream – but perhaps also the other way round. Expections can make a difference ;-) Roofless ablutions, spiral privacy shield a bit short, dish washing inconenient. Very friendly staff and dogs. Access a bit rough but we would happily come back.

In summary, lovely spot between Arusha and Nairobi. Just off the road (although 4x4 recommended).

We were the only ones there so very peaceful. We did a lovely walk with Daniel and the owner’s sweet dogs to see the sunset from the hill and would highly recommend (we asked for this thanks to a previous reviewer on here!)

Hot donkey shower outdoor makes for a stunning moonlight shower! Other facilities - a pool, lapa, and glamping tents (although we didn’t use any of them)

There’s firewood to buy and borehole water for drink/shower/dishes but otherwise must bring everything of your own.

We heard Impala and hyena in the night all around!

It’s a beautiful spot and worth a visit for a peaceful night bordering the Amboesli :)

Camping was 1500 KSH per person and we also paid an extra 500 or so for the firewood and guided walk.

As others mentioned would contact ahead!

Such a lovely spot, as previously described. Absolutely quiet and utterly peaceful. 1500ksh pppn, 500ksh for a large bundle of firewood. Call ahead for a booking—essential. Gorgeous outdoor shower and flushing toilet. Lots of hikes in the area, with views of Kilimanjaro on a clear day. Friendly and helpful staff. Friendly dogs that visited us in our campsite to give puppy snuggles 😁 The campsite is on the owners personal property and they share their swimming pool with guests. The campsite is far enough away from the house to be private, but you have the benefit of them (and they are lovely!) nearby. Birds and bucks in the day, hyenas at night.

Amazing private and secluded camp! Peter and Trisha are fantastic hosts. We camped in a very shaded area with great views of the surrounding area. They are many animals wondering about, including a resident leopard that you may be lucky enough to see. Awesome hot outdoor shower with firewood provided nightly at a very reasonable cost. Camping is 1500 shillings pp and the pool is beautiful. We came to stay one night and ended up staying three. Say hi to Kip for us!

*Make sure to call before you arrive to make a reservation. It is a private camp with a locked gate.

We would definitely return.

Lovely quiet place that feels like bushcamping. Owner Pete is a very nice guy. Call him before arrival. They like to keep it a quiet place and don't want too many at the same time.
4x4 recommended for access road. At first seems like it's a bit too simple, but give it a chance, the calm, the crazy amount of birds, the impalas and many other animals that come by at night. The cute cat and dogs. The lovely open air toilet and shower. It all adds to a wonderful stay. Campers are allowed to use the pool.

Calling the owner beforehand is really a must as he likes to keep the campsite private. Very kind and helpful owner. The good thing about the place are the facilities for sure.. open showers and toilets, pool, etc... Good internet signal with Safaricom. Price still 15 USD ppn which is the most expensive we had in Kenya in a month.

We wanted to camp here, but they wanted USD 50 for 2 adults & 2 little kids. We found a nearby hotel for the same money instead.

Really lovely refreshing place. We phoned Pete to organise opening of gate before we arrived. Lovely hot shower and big tree to camp beneath.

Beautiful campsite run by 2 people that love camp themselves. Very spacious sites and lots of wildlife (impala, birds) around. Hyena calls at night. Very nice (hot) outdoor shower and a banda with water and gas where you can cook. Free to use the swimming pool. Daniel the caretaker is very hands-on and can get you firewood for a fee. Paid 1500kes per person per night. Bit more than average, but this campsite is one of a kind.

Lovely peaceful campsite with pool kitchen area and roofless bush shower. Friendly staff and you have the whole place to yourself.
Must call Peter as per previous to book. Awesome nafure walk to the top of the hill behind camp. Highly recommend. Would be an amazing place to stay with bunch of friends.

Amazing find. We stayed here after crossing from Tanzania. We only panned to stay one night but ended up staying two as we enjoyed the pool and walks in nature so much. Road is a bit bumpy but no problem for an overland vehicle. One of our favourite stops of our whole trip.

Very nice place with very friendly and helpful staff. The way to get there is on maps.me but in google, it’s a wrong location. If it’s raining or it was raining, the last 2 kms can be very dirty and difficult .
This camp is in middle of the bush and the view is very beautiful.
