Saddle Mountain is BLM land about 60 miles East of Phoenix. Take Exit 81 off of Hwy 10, travel roughly 10 miles of good dirt road from Hwy 10. Road through BLM is normal BLM type road that is passable by most vehicles and bigger rigs. Dispersed camping sites with fire pits can be found in many spots over 3 sq. miles with good distances between them for privacy. As always keep your area and site clean so we can all continue to enjoy these great spots. Good hiking in area and good AT&T signal.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Less crowded than quartzite! there are a fair number of flies because of free range cattle. I use some window fly screens which really help. You can get them on eBay.
there are some stores nearby, check out Rio Valley Market to the west, on Harquahala. they have some great food there!
Nice place to stay and hike the gorgeous trail with a spectacular cliff about 100 feet high. Petroglyphe site not very far away but not so many petroglyphes to see. We have seen a few on the bottom of the hill. It seems it has fallen down from the cliff. On the negative part, gun shooting pretty intense and almost everyday! Good AT&T cell signal.
Report Check-InFantastic area with plenty of semi-level parking and scattered fire rings! Some roads require 4x4 and high clearance but many are accessible to all vehicles. Neat hiking trails along the East side of Saddle Mountain!
AT&T service is just OK, plenty of sun for solar, and RV Starlink works great except during peak hours (4-9pm)
Beautiful views, weak Verizon signal. Was a nice place to stop on the way through. Would stay here again.
Report Check-InWe stayed here one week over Thanksgiving weekend 2021. Lots of different places with privacy, fire rings, and nice views of Saddle Mountain. Amazing sunsets and starry skies. Many roads to go for walks, relatively peaceful, few other campers around, and fair AT&T signal. The negatives for us were the rocky campsites and roads which were painful for our feet to hang out on and for our dog’s paws to walk on. It’s a very slow drive in, high clearance is a bonus. Road noise on weekdays consists of trucks constantly using their engine breaks.
Report Check-InNot closed, good distance from the highway, dispersed campsites. 14-day limit sign as you enter. VERY spotty Verizon and TMobile.
