very lonely and calm place run by a family supposedly. We only met a young man, speaking English, who didn't introduce himself, and several staff members in the kitchen and service.
Since the big group left earlier than expected, they did not want to cook a buffet for us anymore, so they offered us a fish dinner plate for 12.000 instead of the buffet for 25.000. the fish was well grilled and the veggies plain cooked. together delicious and a sweet buffet afterwards.
apparently they have hikes, tours and massage, though when asking what they have in offer here, they only gave us the price for camping and the room, not even the glamping. the cave has some unfinished houses for showers, toilets and a bar and some unappealing little lake next to the camping area. not sure why projects get started and not finished. why then even starting it.

Since everything is written in Portuguese, either you ask the son for everything or you can guess where what is. Noone even tried to sell us the more expensive room or give us a tour around the compound.
nobody greeted us at the gate (the sign says in Portuguese that without a reservation no entry)
so we walked by foot down the hill and asked for details. A room for 99.000 pppn or 9.000 pppn for the camping in the bay.
No one showed us a sweet water shower. the salty shower got warm eventually and it was romantic to shower outside under the cave. from the side the first shower is not fully view proven.

do the hike to the left and right of the beach, though swimming wasn't pleasant in the afternoon as the wave swirled us underwater around.

all in all a beautiful location with great shade for big rigs even, though from the comments we expected hospitality and some luxury if you pay 18pn for two (also all the building material and amenities have been carried from far away, that has its costs as well). So calm your expectations and you will have a wonderful time here and not regret it.

Most impressive & unique location! We refer to earlier comments which rightky praise this wonderful place. We stayed three nights and paid Kwanzas 9.000 pppn. Manager Andrea and staff were very friendly.

Everything as already described but an extra mention for the fantastic food we had - it's a buffet but you pick what you would like braai'd and there is a fantastic salad bar, veggies, breads and cakes. A real treat night or two here is well worth it.

The drive in is incredible in itself and takes over an hour to complete the 25kms, I couldn't help but wonder who has literally carved a track out of the cliffs and when you arrive at Praia de Soba you just have to respect the vision and effort that has gone into building this little resort. There are cottages, a lovely bar and restaurant above the cliffs and then the camp site is down a steep track right on the beach underneath the cliffs. Each space has a sink and private bathroom with toilet and shower, it is salt water obviously and for us it was cold but unsurprising as this place feels really remote (because it is). We could also use the glamping tents for showers if we wanted too. Andrea and team are lovely and very helpful with information. We did an amazing hike along the cliffs to different beaches and headlands, spectacular views. In the evening a fire kept us warm and the cliffs protected us from the wind. In the morning we spotted a whale very briefly from the beach. 4000 kwanza pppn

Praia do Soba Lodge
Simply spectacular and breathtaking. The host Andrea is most accommodating and welcoming and runs a fantastic Lodge in a remote coastal area. The campsites are under rock overhangs and each site has its own ablution and wash up area as well as power point. The last 17km to the Lodge has 2 routes namely 2 x 4 and 4 x 4...this road is challenging on motorcycles with 2 steep rocky climbs. I highly suggest Praia do Soba for true Angolan Hospitality and Beauty Andrea +244922502665

Agree with comments below. Nice cliffs and beach but the campsite is neglected, scruffy and I’d almost prefer to be wild camping than using salt water for showers and dishes. Felt a bit grubby. The area between the campsite and the beach is pretty ugly too. But if you look past that the sites nice.

Waves are big and not the most comfortable to swim - have to be very careful and a confident swimmer to swim here as currents are strong.

Wifi worked well in restaurant but we didn’t eat as they wanted $30 each!

The place Andrea and Chris created is fabulous despite the difficulties that come with a stunning location at the end of the world. The drive is rough but in a beautiful, lunar landscape. The ablution is corroding rapidly with the salty water they have to use. The drinking water is trucked in all the way from Namibe. Plans are being made to invest in a desalination plant running on solar power. Thanks Andrea and Chris for a fantastic stay worth the price.

Report Check-In

As mentioned, a stunning location and the campsite in the cave makes it quite unique.
We would however describe the campsite as rustic rather than luxurious. The ablutions are in a somewhat neglected state and the shower and sink water is cold and salty.
Overall a nice, basic campsite, but hard to justify the rate of Kw6000 ppn. The access road is severely rutted and course from beginning to end.

An amazing place with nice camping and chalets. Andrea and her husband are super hosts.

As previous poster said. Beautiful beach and friendly owners. The campsite in the cave is perfect for hot days as it gives you shade most of the day. The ablutions are quite worn down so not a very luxurious stay. The road is very corrugated for at least 20 out of the 24km to get here from the main road

We camped in the campsite two nights. the campsite is situated on the beach inside a Cave, it's Very beautiful! Andrea and Chris welcomed us like part of the family, we felt very good with them. The buffet for dinner it's excellent but quite expensive.
The beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on the country. Beware of the strong currents if you want to swim.
To arrive there, the last 24km are in a rocky terrain. You will find 2 ways for going there which are signed: 2x4 or 4x4.

Report Check-In

It's not a luxury camp, but still a good camp worth visiting. The track to the camp is a bit rough at places and in 2 parts very steep, with a 2x4 it could be problematic. The price is 4.000 Kwanca pppn. WiFi at the restaurant is by satellite, so not very fast. No cell phone signal at all. Nice and helpful owners.

Owner Andrea found me cycling on the main road and offered me a place to stay as long as I wanted. Spoiled. Truly remarkable place. Pristine. Remote. Peaceful. Very inspiring. Cottage #1 has the best location. You can also camp on the beach for a fee. Check out their Instagram to get an idea. Worth the 20km 4x4 ride from main road to coastline.
