Description

If you want to have a true cave- experience and want to learn about the local culture, this is your place. A few young people from Teheran decided to start an eco lodge in Maymand and they did/ do a great job! (It’s not the cheapest option- 20 euro pppn, but def worth it)

The eco lodge consists of several caves. You sleep in one of the caves, where they created cosy rooms. There is a shared toilet (squad and European style) and a shared hot shower, both very clean and in another cave on a 2 min walk.

In a central cave they provide dinner (€5,-) and breakfast (included in the price). Laundry service available as well (€3,-)

You can make beautiful hikes - the nature is stunning! But they also organise nice tours where they work closely with the locals. Ie we joined for a sunset tour and had a super nice evening at a shepherds place where we watched the animals, played games and eat with them. Nothing ‘touristic’, you just join them :)

The owners will make you feel at home. It’s def recommended to stay for a few nights! We payed €20,- per night per person, incl breakfast.

Note: we arrived in the dark and there is no ‘lodge’ kind of sign. Ask the locals or otherwise call 912 371 51 20. The central cave is near the road at your left hand side.

The place is really nice and the host is very kind and helpful.
As of may 2024 the price is 8,5 millions/person rials (negotiable).

The homemade dinner and the breakfast were excellent.

Toilets are the city public toilets (clean). The shower is shared and a bit far (need to go back down on the street).

We had a great experience and would definitely recommend.

Everything As described, but we managed to bargain down the price to 30$ for 2 ppl from 40€ asked. The room is amazing and super comfortable, especially due to the natural cool temperature inside the cave.
The breakfast was the best we had in Iran.
We visited during low season and we didn’t get any tour or warm welcome, a part the owner everyone else’s was quite indifferent. Don’t expect dinner and bring your own food, we risked to remain without dinner because apparently was not an option in the lodge.
