We stayed here for the night and we had no problem. There were 2 others van with us. There was local people coming early to fish and scuba dive! We didn’t see the guy with the gun. Really nice place!

Report Check-In

We parked here and slept over last night. We cooked and watched the sunset at the State park next to this beach before arriving. When we got to this spot there were some campers already there. We got talking to them and they told us that it's supposed to be for fishers only (in a friendly way) and sometimes the police come by and move people if they aren't fishing, they even check licenses and cooler boxes to prove they were fishing. Make sure to park away from the boat launch ramp if you stay here. No police came by but boats and fishers started arriving around 4.30am, it got pretty busy so we moved to the park next to it around 5am.

Report Check-In

Great Beach Spot. Excellent night’s sleep. Unfortunately, the sunseaker class c dumped their waste tank and then bleached the area. Don’t do that as it will cause areas like this to close.

Report Check-In

Arrived late afternoon to enjoy the ocean view and stay the night in our van. 3 others already there and all appeared perfect for a relaxed evening and night.. Around 6 pm, environment police arrived and advised all who were considering camping to leave or be fined as camping was not permitted. No signage prohibiting overnight parking anywhere but discussing with a man wearing a bullet proof vest and carrying a gun seemed pointless. So I suppose too many people abused and the site is probably a gamble on any given day.

Report Check-In

Several other vans here for the night. We all parked along the sides where it was level. Lovely sunset view. No one bothered us, but a few people did drive in during the middle of the night.

Report Check-In

Very nice place and quiet. Be carful to not block any entry to the beach. Allow fishermen bring there kayaks to ocean.

Report Check-In

great place for the night amazing view of the ocean

Report Check-In

Camped on one of the pull outs next to kings beach. Super ideal location. Pretty quite, wasn’t bothered. Came after dark and left early.

Report Check-In

Fantastic spot, right at the ocean. There was one skoolie with us. A lot of people launch their fishing kayaks here, so be mindfull of where you park.

Report Check-In

Super spot. Daylight very active fishing, sailing aven snorkeling. Thanks for sharing.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot right on the water. Lots of activity but it was Memorial Day weekend so expected. Four other vans here with us but we'll spaced.

Report Check-In

Beautiful seaside with a beach in the midst of mansions. We had the place to ourselves. The gravel road is quite rough but only a few hundred yards long. No signs were posted to limit overnight stays. Several cars came through during the night but no issues. Room for several 40’ skoolies like ours. Rate 5/5

Spend the night here with another van. Nobody came to knock on our door. Some road noise but otherwise very quiet.

We did our researches befodrehand and there's no city ordinance nor state law that forbids sleeping in your vehicle. The only city ordinance applicable might be the maximum 24 hours parking at the same spot on a residential street. Since this place isn't even a place, it's debatable it's applicable.

Here's the city ordinance on 24 hours parking.
10.20.090. - Parking for longer than twenty-four hours prohibited.

Here's the closest we've find to overnight parking but it's only applicable when and where the city wants it.
9.08.130. - Sleeping in public prohibited at certain times.

Report Check-In

Spent one quiet night, but the next day we got a knock around 3pm by a local officer. He kindly informed us that by RI law we could not spend the night there and had to move by sunset.

Report Check-In

Stayed 1 night. Watched sunset from the water then moved back 100ft out of sight of the adjacent house and to stay out of the way of people to come to fish and SCUBA dive in the morning. Closest washrooms are at Brenton State Park with running water in season or portapotties out of season.

Report Check-In

Amazing location!!!! No bathrooms or anything. No one bothered us. It did get very windy which shook my van a good bit but I was parked right out on the cliff! Will definitely come back!

Report Check-In

gorgeous spot with a short drive through an incredible neighborhood with homes/mountains set right into the side of the stone seaside. If you have limited mobility (I sometimes need a can and cant do steps well), I was able to walk out, comfortably, to the edge of the rocks. I did not boondock here, but I may come back this evening. Beautiful and safe area.

Report Check-In

Awesome spot with a beautiful sunset and sunrise. Stayed the night without any issues. One other van couple there overnight as well. No 4x4 needed.

Report Check-In

Great place to stay the night! Planned on driving up closer to the water in the morning but there were a lot of fishers coming in. Just out the drive to the left is a pull off with no signs that we were able to spend the morning. Doesn’t seem to be a problem to stay here but mind the fishermen as this is a fishing launch.

Report Check-In

Nice place to spend a night. Decent cell service. Be prepared for fisherman to come at 4:45am, load up kayaks, then head our to fish.

Report Check-In

Such a sweet spot!! Few people in and out, but overall pretty quiet. We met an awesome couple also staying in their van. no facilities here and it’s carry in-carry out. Deff a must stay if you’re in Rhode Island.. so peaceful and gorgeous sunset!

Report Check-In

petit paradis!! aucun service mais vue 270 degré sur la mer... aucune inscription de stationnement de nuit interdit. à garder "secret"!

Report Check-In

Please take care to be quiet, respectful, and clean! This is a hidden gem, and we need to preserve it. Stunning! Worth the drive.

Report Check-In

Beautiful water front beach spot, quieter on weeknights but this is definitely a spot that tourists and locals like to come to to watch the sunset or kayak. During the weekend a handful of fisherman unloading their kayaks at 4am.
Not a problem though, the sound of the waves will drown out any disturbances. Totally worth it for the beautiful view among the large estates of Newport.
However, we have stayed here 4 nights and we found on 4 different human poop, not buried, with toilet paper. THIS is how places this beautiful get shut down people! Also, this is a public beach, not a forest. Either bury it really deep or time it for when you’re at the gas station down the road or something. Anyway, killer sunsets. Road is literally just an entrance with flat gravel. Don’t know why someone said 4x4 but thats incorrect. The 2 best level spots are on the far left, first row seat to the water. And to the far right spot that fits two vehicles but the closer left one, not the super super far right. Hope that makes sense.

Report Check-In

The most beautiful place to watch the sunset and to wake up to. Be sure not to park near the chair, that’s where folks lug their boats to launch from in the early hours of the morning.
Drove through a couple beautiful neighborhoods to get here, neatly tucked away on the beach.

Report Check-In

Great location. Awesome views of the ocean. We slept with natural ocean sounds. Other van-lifers came thru after 9pm and stood overnight. Its was safe. Kayaking fishermen come in to prep for fishing and scuba diving very early in the morning. Hard gravel sandy road no need for 4x4 vehicles. Road is pretty leveled. Truly recommend.

Report Check-In

We stayed here 2 nights with our car and rooftop tent. No problems at all. Even talked to a local and an officer and they confirmed us it's okay to stay here and that many people do it. They told us that often young people come in the middle of the night to drink and party, but we had no issues at all. There was a pit toilet at the entry of the short gravel road, but I guess it was only temporarily as there was a community ride event. Great spot to stay. We parked a bit off the coastline as it had a bit more shelter from the wind, it was quite stormy the first night.

Report Check-In

stayed here for the night. no problems at all. a beautiful view, quiet. we had neighboring campers too. great spot. take in take out.

Report Check-In

Great spot. Not too big, but I could fit my pickup and a 12’ trailer with plenty of room for others. Right on the edge of the water. Great views of sunset and sunrise. Some people on and out during the night, also there’s a busy-ish road nearby so some noise but not too bad

Report Check-In

What a rad spot! Navigated through old neighborhoods and fancy neighborhoods to get here. Secret little gem

Report Check-In

This is a great spot, even covered in snow!

Report Check-In

Awesome spot! Entry road is dirt/gravel with potholes, but no problem for our Revel 4x4 van. There were a few sightseers here at sunset, but they left and we had the ocean front place to ourselves. Gorgeous ocean view and rocky shore.

Report Check-In

Great spot. No issues. Highly recommend.

Report Check-In

We parked here most of yesterday and spent the night. We are in a small 24’ motor home. The road into this small parking lot is narrow and has some potholes. We saw fishermen and a few come-and-go sightseers, also, one “environmental police” truck.
No problem parking and spending the night. It was quiet and a beautiful location. Good AT&T service.

Report Check-In

Epic spot. Great views. Boaters do show up very early to launch their kayaks and fishing boats from here, but it was safe and beautiful

Report Check-In

Amazing spot. Epic views. A++. Only disadvantage is that people show up at the crack of dawn to launch kayaks and fishing boats.

Report Check-In

Great spot for a converted van with an ocean view. It does get quite busy in the evening time with people coming and going but it beats staying at a paid overnight spot.

Report Check-In

Had a nice night w no disruptions here. Arrived with a few hours of daylight left. Several folks parked were fishing. We parked the van far to the left and hidden by a big tree from the house just east of the area, which I suspect was the one calling in overnighters in the past. We moved closer to the cliff where the ground was more level once it was dark, but we were more visible to the neighboring house. There were almost no lights on at the house, so I think we were lucky. Great site!

Report Check-In

Great spot to set up for the night and wake up to the waves and the birds. There were some other people around fishing and kayaking, but no kids going crazy, and everyone was considerate and friendly. Overall it was very peaceful. Access is a short and very smooth dirt road that I think any car could drive down, and it widens towards the end which gives people space to spread out. It's also surrounded by tall bushes which gives it privacy.

Report Check-In

Great little spot. Although was warned by another person that it’s actually against state law to sleep overnight there. The house next door will frequently call the state to report campers. We had no issues. Woke up to find to others stopped there. Beautiful location.

Report Check-In

Wonderful place to stay! Right on the water. Great view when you wake up. Very busy in the early evening, but quieted right down. Nobody bothered us. Enjoying my morning coffee as I write this.

Report Check-In

This beach spot is really nice — the only boondocking we’ve found in all of the NE. It’s beautiful and serene — no utilities whatsoever though so pack it in and pack it out. People will come early to fish, but most won’t bother you. Be warned though, some of the locals absolutely SUCK and will blast music and yell “good morning” at you at 7 am. Hopefully that won’t happen to you guys, these people who woke us up are such d*cks.

Report Check-In

Good spot. Showed up late and parked by the water in a bus so easy enough to get back to. Somebody came around at 1 in the morning though and woke us up outside our bus talking on the phone with someone to come and get us moved. Don’t think it panned out for him because he hung up sounding frustrated and drove off and nobody ever showed up.

Report Check-In

You definitely don’t need 4wd or even high clearance I saw cars come out here. It got crowded for sunset but after that it was quite all night. Such a sick spot!!

Report Check-In

This is a quiet waterfront spot with a path leading to a rocky beach. . No cars were visible. No lights. Very private. Unpaved road, somewhat bumpy with lots of potholes but easily navigable in 4x4 van and probably vans or SUVS without 4x4. Close to town. I highly recommend this site.

Report Check-In

Beautiful but a friendly police officer kicked us and one other van out of the lot at midnight. There are no signs saying no overnight parking but apparently you can't stay in any Newport parks or beaches overnight. Even the Walmart in Newport has signs in the parking lot saying you can't stay overnight and they tow. We ended up staying at a random street parking spot in town that was unmetered. Would recommend just staying the night in another town if possible.

Report Check-In

We decided not to stay here because we found another spot but there are no “no overnight” signs it’s right on the water. Any size could fit, as always scope it out first though.

Report Check-In

I usually stay at Walmart in middle town never had any problems. I stayed here Saturday for the first time and of course the view is a lot better. i'll be staying here more often
