Description

MODERATOR NOTE: No overnight camping allowed inside vehicles, please respect the wishes of the locals.

Camping area on Lago Espejo. Sheltered and beautiful views of the lake. Fires allowed in the area next to the car park, which is reserved for camping. No camping on the beach. Free and no facilities, next to a ranger station. Warning - loads of tourist buses stop by for photos in the morning but apart from that, the beach is all yours most of the day

Camping with tents seems to be allowed, not with motorhomes - see pictures. We just stopped for pictures in the morning, but there were several campers here which have obviously spent the night here …

As informa são controversas. A placa na entrada do estacionamento não permite pernoite. Os moradores e veículos argentinos nos informaram que não há problema. Enfim ficaremos uma só noite…

the free camping is open, the warning is old, just very full now in high season

Muchos autos estacionados.. lleno de gente. hermoso lugar pero ya no es tan tranquilo como antes. camping libre.

Magic place to sleep with the possibility of making a fire. There is also plenty of room. As read, there are many tourist buses in the morning

Report Check-In

Few spots to pitch the tent. Fire pits. Coud be noisy because near the car park and the road. A lot of people during the day.
Nice view.
A lot of trash ! If you can pick up some trash, thanks. Because there is no bin and rangers don't pick up the trash.

One of a couple of campsites that are informal, meaning it's allowed but without any toilets or showers. Beautiful and pretty much to yourself in low season. Despite the warning sign for cold water, it's good to swim in the lake. We also filtered some water from there. Fire pits but hard to find wood. Recommended for a night or so.

Report Check-In

Amazing place for a night or two. In the area up to 8 tents are allowed for max 2 nights. We were the only ones camping at night. People come and go throughout the day.

Report Check-In

Quiet pretty spot. However no toilets...no dogs allowed and it says no motor homes but there is room. We came for the view as it's better than at mirador and way fewer people.

Report Check-In

there's a sign telling motorhomes are prohibited to stay at night. we spoked to the ranger which told us we could stay just one night with our VW Kombi. wonderful place. other campers in tents.

Report Check-In

we spent a night here with our tent. since we arrived at 9 pm, we were not able to tell the guardparque that we were there, but no one cared. in the morning there were a few tourists, who arrived with a bus, but apart from that it was really quiet. we are still in off-season though.

camping sin servicios...pero hermoso lugar..cerca de Villa la Angostura

I just had a conversation with the guarda park about camping...

He said tents and small cars are allowed to spend the night (If its not a motorhome - even If u only have a small fridge or a small stove ur still not allowed) for two reasons:

- the MHs weight helps compacting the ground and is one of the reasons that is killing the trees;

- MHs and even kombis take too much space on the parking and makes It not possible for more people to enjoy the beach.

If ur on a regular car and wants to set up a tent that's ok.

You can enjoy day use anyways.

The tents area is now separated from the parking area, leaving much more space for tents and not so many parking vacancies.

we came here for breakfast. It's high season and there were a lot of locals with tents and also campers. So probably no problem to camp in the car or tent. but to be sure ask the rangers. actually some different signs what is where allowed and what not...

This is a nice campsite with plenty of fire pits. It's right next to the lake and in February the lake is warm enough to swim. there are porta-potties which are cleaned regularly. it's quite busy during the day but in the evening it was fairly quiet. the only issue we had was the really strong wind

Report Check-In

We set up the tent here, no problem. We met another guy who stayed there for 2/days.

Report Check-In

well, no campers allowed anymore. we were kicked out by a stuttering park ranger. I tried to reason with him that I've had some wine and don't want to drive, he wouldn't yield.

Report Check-In

Sign say only for tent. free, but it's more a parking area than campsite. still ok to stay one night. very close to the road. quiet at night. if water needed there is a small waterstream on the other side of the road.

Hermoso sitio, en vacaciones de invierno es solo y no hay guardaparques. Nosotros tenemos perro y lo llevamos con collar

Report Check-In

There is now a sign stating that camping with max 8 tents for max 2 nights is allowed after mandatory registration at the guardaparque from 9 am to 4 pm. It is prohibited to stay over night with a motorhome. Fires are allowed, pets not.

Well, obviously no one cares about rules. We stayed overnight in our motorhome together with a canadian and argentinian family, also with motorhomes. No one bothered us.

Report Check-In

Hmmm...look at the sign....no Motorhomes only carpas.....don't thunk about the sense....it is Argentinia....

But its very close to the road.

We stayed here without any issue, no sign of it being closed and the park guards saw we were there and didn't say anything.
Really nice location and views, plenty of wood for campfires. A few tourists stopped by to take photos but otherwise was very peaceful.
