The road from San Pedro is very good but the last part to go up to the lagunas is not paved and quite steep and with the high altitude you just need to take your time ;)
Be careful if you come during the afternoon, they close at 5pm both lagunas and piedras Rojas.

Very bad welcome. We didn't have the tickets and the person tells us that we can book on the internet but that it doesn't work, but we have the network, so I ask her for the booking site that they don't want to give me. Strange but I insist. She gives me an wrong name but I find it on Google and she laughs at me because I ask her the price, she tells me to manage on the internet. I don't understand his attitude, this my Spanish is not very good but I make the effort to try. In the end a second guard arrives and they laugh at me together. I don't know why. I show them that Internal works but they support me together that it doesn't work. In the end, after 45 minutes of difficulty communicating I see the people who were in front of us. It shouldn't be worth it if the Tour is over in 45 minutes. So we decide to leave.

Beautiful laguna
Paved road from San Pedro except for the last 8km which is a good gravel road, had no issue with our 2WD van
Buy tickets in Socaire (10.000/person for foreigners)

Make sure to buy tickets beforehand at the ticketoffice in Socaire. 5000 per person now for extranjeros, plus another 5000 for Aguas calientes.

Beautiful lakes. little rough road up the hill but lots of 2wd and even RVs made it somehow up the hill. Easier with a 4wd. 3000 CLP p.P. You can drive around which is good because of the high altitude.

We asked and there is potable water in the bathrooms. Very helpful for cyclists.

We left all our panniers at the bottom - a big climb up and very sandy.

Not allowed to carry on cycling through southern entrance.

For cyclists come from north, may be allowed in the ticket booth to keep going on southern section of the road(closed to motorized vehicles) instead of returning back on the same route. Still need to stay on the track though. The southern section of the road seems to be dispersed for a while but rideable in most part.

Paysage magnifique / Miscanti (Miniques , accès fermé) . La route pour y aller est une piste un peu cahoteuse ) . Une fois sur place , on peut rester max 25 min pour photos( parking petit ). Prix 3000 / pers , gratuit pour les enfants.

Still 3000pp. Washboard to go there with curves so it is difficult to drive fast on it.

Beautiful lakes. Only last 6 km is not paved and is manageable with 2 wheel drive if taken slowly. 3000/pp. Hours: 9-5.

Really beautifull! you can still only see laguna miscanti from parking lot. there is still to much snow for the other lake or to walk. very scenic road to drive and good conditions.

Nice view for pictures on a snowy lake. Just know you can only see the laguna Miscanti. The other half of the park is closed because of the snow.

I'm not so sure if they're that amazing. Another lagunas in between mountains/volcanos
The landscape outside the park and the animals were more interesting (vicuñas, foxes) and not a bit scared of us!

A must see!!! Most beautiful lagunas with snow capped volcanoes. Probably as spectacular as the lagunas in Bolivia!
