Description

Tumco is a ghost town. This area has great views of mountains, Sand dunes and sunsets. Plenty of trails for hiking and biking. Pretty quiet here. RV park across the road with lots of historical information on the old mining town with great artifacts. This is BLM land on both sides of the road and lots of room to park any size rig. Road isn’t to bad, a bit rocky but manageable. Respect the area...pack it in and pack it out.! Please...

As reported, nice quiet BLM spot. First bit is solid for large RV/ Check ahead before proceeding further.

Report Check-In

Beautiful desert area with interesting historical self guided tour in the ghost town. Lots of flat, spread out spaces with fire rings. The road getting there has many bad potholes, but we made it just fine in our Class C RV. AMAZING sunsets, a bit windy. Pack in pack out, no amenities. Formal RV park across the main road.

Wonderful quiet night and some exploring in the morning!

Report Check-In

Historic mining site plenty of trails and and dispersed camping throughout area. Cell signal is sporadic at times, but dogs have plenty of room for exercise. Occasional gunshots heard at various hours so watch your animals because mine gets scared.

Report Check-In

Huge area with very few RV's. Great hike round the old mining are but a few hazardous areas round the pit and in the tailings area where erosion has created some nasty crevasses. Unfortunately lots of broken glass and a few ATVs but they were moving very slowly and didn't disturb us.

We stood there for a few days over Christmas without any problems. Quite calm only from time to time some buggy, quad drivers or Rubicons otherwise super calm.
Many parking lots and many fire pits.
One can stand here 14 days freely.
Super place in the proximity is however nothing else (30/50 km away Walmart, water etc.)

Internet so far well from time to time it just went from the reception.

Beautiful place. We stay here over Christmas 2019 with three vans. Very quiet, over the day a little breezy. Four bars T-Mobile, but the Internet breaks down sometimes.
