Description

We exit UAE to Saoedie Arabia from this border. First get your exit stamp in the carnet... this is something they never seen so you need to explain. To get to customs drive towards the mosque in the right side and drive around it. At the end of the road go left into the gates which says only trucks. Go to the white building like on photo 1. There are many doors and waiting rooms. I can’t really explain which one so just go inside and ask for customs. Then go back and go in to the road for immigrations. Go to the building on photo 2 and pay your exit fee. We showed the one we payed already in Oman and that was oke! Then go with the stamp to the first locket. They check your stamp and let you go on.

Saudi side

We went to the locket gave our passport and visa. A guy walked with us to the places we needed to be and everything was just explained and straight forward. You give your finger prints and they take a photo. They are all happy to help and Interested in our travel story.
Then we went to the next locket is customs. They did not check the car manually but with a scan. They never ask for the CTP. And they don’t know it. We didn’t get a stamp.

And that was it. It took us 2 hours in total.

Update:
Exit stamp for carnet UAE is still correct, but the whole area is under reconstruction. There will be a new entrance to the truck area near the cars entrance soon, the signs are already up.
I’d customs will be in the same building, I don’t know.
For passport control drive back to cars entrance. No need to go into any building anymore, just follow the other cars to the booths with the green lights.
The lady will stamp you out, and you have to pay departure tax, 64,- Dirham, Credit Cards only.
Saudi Arabia: stop BEFORE the booths in front of the first building to the right.
Go into the men only section, your wife/girlfriend will also be admitted :).
Here they will check your passport and visa, electronic fingerprinting and photo, entry stamp (date according to Arabic calendar).
Drive on to the booth, the lady will check the stamp, and give you a paper slip, which is collected again a bit down the road at another checkpoint.
Next stop customs. We just had to open the trunk and side door, no questions, 2 minutes in total. Next stop insurance: 1 month 250 SAR, plus 5% VAT = 263,- SAR. Cash only, but you can pay in Emirate Dirham, exchange rate 1:1 (Cash only!)
Directly after the border to the right is a bank with ATM, and some restaurants.
All very friendly and easy, just keep enough Dirham to pay for the insurance!
