Description

Campground for motorhomes and tents.

Part of Perito Moreno National Park. Registration at the ranger station is mandatory!

Camping and park entrance is free. Take enough extra fuel for at least 300 km (better more). There is no petrol station close by!

Facilities are limited to a toilet only and an information board.

Extremely beautiful park, well worth the detour off Ruta 40.

Very nice lake. the place for the camping cars is really very exposed to the wind though.
fresh menta next to the ranger caravan ✌🏻

Update 2024: This park is still a very remote place so bring enough fuel! From RN40, you have 90 km to the ranger station and another 16 km to the campground on a decent gravel road, 2WD is fine. Due to the strong winds, you might find that your fuel consumption is much higher than usual.

Big trucks be advised: on the 16 km section of the road to the campground, the road is very narrow in some parts.

Some of the older comments and pictures of this camping spot no longer reflect the reality in 2024. We did not see any wood shelters and it is allowed to camp only in the designated areas.

There is a designated spot for motorhomes, not very level and more exposed to the wind as it is on a small hill. Not ideal if it is windy and you have a roof tent as there are no trees directly in front to block the wind.

There is also a separate spot for tents, flat, with nice grass and picnic tables. Some wind protection from the trees.

Small budding parking lot from the small walk to the Mirador on the Laguna Burmeister. The track to get there from the entrance to the park was a bit muddy and had a really narrow passage for big vehicles.

Really good place. We loved so much this park
When we arrived at the ranger station, the wind was really strong and we have a pop up roof tent . The ranger told us that It was the only place with good wind protection.
And it was!! So efficient so dont worry

A beautiful lake to stay by in a park full of wildlife. Definitely worth the two hour turn off from the main road. We were panicking about our fuel and the park ranger said that if we were desperate, we could buy some from the Estancia La Oriental if they had extra. The long drop toilet was fine and the copse of trees kept us protected from the wind.

This site has plenty of space for big rigs, roof-top tents and ground tents. It was very windy, but it is possible to find a place with some wind protection. We used our roof-top tent in the large parking area by the lake side. The pit toilets are clean. There are no other amenities, but the setting is beautiful. The lake is sparking blue and the hikes in the area beautiful. It was well worth the 90 km drive! There are also other places in Perito Moreno park to explore. Be sure to check in with ranger when you arrive.

Really nice place to stay / free camping / perfekt wind-stopper wood-fences (better than the windy “area” at the other camping El Rincon) / place (also with wood-fences) to cook with your own gas + wood table. / nice sunset view from the campsite to the mountain / 1min from the lake + the mirador Burmeister. / parking for cars and vans

If you like wilderness and loneliness this is THE place to be!

Beautiful campsite with good wind shelter, and fantastic national park with lots of wildlife. Very recommended!

Report Check-In

Beautiful camping area with a few dedicate spots where you can park your rig near the trees and find cover from the strong winds. Fenced/enclosed cooking areas with tables. Pit restrooms. Close to a short trail leading to a lookout point over the lake. The drive to this spot was very pretty with lots of wild life.

We arrived in strong wind and rain and hunkered down for 2 days, in a sheltered site ‘flamenco’ which was almost totally out of the wind - remarkable, 10m away you’d struggle to stand up! We were the only campers most of the time. We love the wilderness of this park it really is unique. Great viewings of birds and wildlife. In our South America top ten.

Report Check-In

Beautiful camp with private sites in the woods. Wind shelter with table and bench for each site, made of thick braches, charming. It is a very windy place, but most of the sites provide good protection.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place in a scenic and remote NP. Even in stormy winds you’ll find some shelter in the woods (there is no wind shelter at the northern campground of the NP) and if you have a rooftop tent, park next to the sweet motorhome sign. To drive here, 2WD can manage, but you need some ground clearance. No facilities at the camping apart from an outhouse and table in a half round wooden wind-shelter (without roof). Water from the lake, ice cold.
There are many hikes (depending on weather and wind), well indicated short walks to viewpoints, divers animals to see and a cosy bird observation hut. All information you get upon registration at the Ranger Station. Free camping and entrance to NP, but bring all you need, warm clothes and extra fuel. No fire allowed, only gas stoves.

We were lucky for sunny windy days. Very nice place to stay a few days!

Report Check-In

Very windy and snowy. Frost on the windshield this morning. Two trucks had rolled over on the main road in. Be careful and don't speed. Lots of animals. We are the only campers here.

Report Check-In

great little spot on the lake. Well worth spending a few days. Toilets, tables and some wind shelter available. Very few people in the park. You will need extra fuel for ca 200km to get here. No petrol station nearby. Free. Park is closed from may on (guess because you are damaging the roads, when they are muddy)

Report Check-In

amazing spot. we were only ones in whole park. nice walk around lake.

Report Check-In

Campground situated close to the lake with shelter from the wind. Facilities are limited to a toilet only and an information board. Very cold winds here when we camped but close to walking track and great views down the lake.
