a hard hike. we went with our dog. start the hike at 7am. it was dark. on the way back some guides sad the our dog can't be there. we went back on a hurry. made the whole trail in 7 hours. it was very tiring. no problem with fees, but they don't allow dogs in Fitz roy

Laguna de los Tres. long walk, given for 8 hours and 24 km round trip. As a family with kids, youngest age 6, took us 14hrs round trip with about 4hr break. there is an average climb on the first 3 km, then 6 km of flat and a big drop on the last km. exhausting but not impossible. bring warm clothes because at the top it is cold even in summer. provide at least 2 liters of water per person. there are several rivers where you can recharge your water bottles. provide a light if you are late on the return. magnificent view, on the way you will see the piedras Blancas glacier and if you go around the Laguna de los tres on the left you will see the Laguna sucia and the Rio blanco glacier.

Laguna de los tres. marche longue, donnée pour 8 h et 24 km aller retour. en famille avec des enfants, le plus jeune âge de 6 ans, ça nous a pris 14 h aller retour avec environ 4 h de pause. il y a une montée moyenne sur les 3 premier km, puis 6 km de plat et un gros dénivelé sur le dernier km. épuisant mais pas infaisable. prévoir des vêtements chaud car tout en haut il fait froid même en été. prévoir au moins 2 litres d’eau par personne. il y a plusieurs rivières où vous pourrez recharger vos gourdes. prévoir une lumière si vous tardez sur le retour. vue magnifique, en chemin vous verrez le glacier piedras Blancas et si vous contournez la Laguna de los tres par la gauche vous verrez la Laguna sucia et le glacier Rio blanco.

Still a great, busy hike. Unfortunately, if you want to go from El Pilar, it’s now closed to the public. But you can start about 1km further at the Rio Eléctrica bridge, there is a big wooden sign indicating the start of the trial. It adds about 1km to the hike. But it’s pretty flat an easy. This section of the trial is also a lot quieter in peak season. Recommend if you have your own vehicle.

Easy hike, about 10 km one way from El Chalten. A lot of day hikers. You can do it as 3 day hike, and stay at Agostini and Poincenot campsite (free), to have less croud and better photography light.

Worth the effort of the hike! Well maintained and well marked trail. Check the weather forecast before you go.

Recommend hiking from Hostería El Pilar (about 20 minutes north of el Chaltén) for great views of the mountains plus you see the glacier - and then take the regular trail back down, so you get to see the view from both sides. We got a remi (taxi) from el Chaltén to the hosteria, hiked up to the lago and then hiked down the normal way back to town. //
Recomendo subir desde hosteria Pilar (20 minutos al norte del pueblo) y bajar por el sendero normal. Así puedes ver la vista diferente desde ambos lados, y ver el glaciar. Nosotros fuimos en remi desde el Chalten hasta el hosteria.

Indeed very popular and busy hike, but still worth it in our opinion. It’s 11km one way (first 3km with moderate accent, then 6km almost flat with some nice views of the Fitzeroi and the last 2km quite steep accent)
We left 8am at the trail head and arrived 11:30 with not too many people at the lake (yet).

This is probably the most popular and really beautiful place in this area. But there are thousands of tourists doing the hike up there. I would recommend to go really early and start from hostería el Pilar.
