Great spot right before the beginning of Capital Reef! Several spots up high or down low beside the creek. It was flowing and gave nice rushing water white noise all night. It’s also in a little canyon so pretty protected from wind (atleast when I was there). Also very little to no bugs! Highly recommend. Also, there are nice pit toilets at the park entrance sign about 1-2 minutes away!

Report Check-In

Good spot. Not too busy even when supposedly the Capitol Reef campground was full. Just one other person there. Big open space up top, if you go down (on the right side after you make the pull off from the highway) there are a few nice spots along the river. Firewood is sparse, I'd plan on bringing some.

Great spot as described, we enjoyed a couple of days touring the area.
As you drive into the site you can choose to go right or left, to the right are the sites on the river. We chose one of the sites on the river, we tow a 16 foot trailer and wouldn't try to get anything bigger into the right side, not a lot of room to turn around. If you're any bigger than us go to the left, you can get anything into the left side. Big open spot to the left..

Really nice quiet place by the Fremont River. 10 miles east from visitor’s center.

Report Check-In

Beside the river
Lots of level spots. Very scenic and right off of the main road

Report Check-In

Was here back in 11/2021. Nothing has changed, and the lower area is still available for camping. End of April, no snow, the lower ground is still a little soft and entry to the lower part is rocky and rutted so take it slow.

Report Check-In

At this place, possibility for small vehicles to find places (2 or 3) along the river.
For older children, several pitches (at least 3) along the rock on the right.
We have a 37 ft RV and are towing a vehicle. Watch out for the drop off the road.
No particular mention on site but several sites identified by outbreaks.
We stayed 4 nights with different neighbors.
Very quiet, the view and the environment are magnificent. Location more sheltered from the wind than higher sites further up the road. Ideal for visiting the NP.

This place was great. We disconnected our car then stayed to the right drove up the hill and there was lots of room. We found a great level spot for the night. The sound of the river would have been awesome if it wasn’t for the wind and the stars would have been incredible if it wasn’t for the clouds. But we had a good nights sleep. I wouldn’t go in here with anything bigger than 30’ we have a 24’ C class we had no problem at all.

Mile Marker 91. Very close to the park. We stayed in the upper lot and even though we were pretty close to the road, we didn’t hear any traffic noise. Amazing views of the Milky Way. Absolutely no cell service.

Report Check-In

Easy to miss when traveling Eastbound. Turned around & found the entrance easily when traveling Westbound. Stayed left to go to the upper area (better for trailers). Found a nice spot overlooking the river.

Report Check-In

Quiet location close to highway, river access, views and stars.

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot along Fremont River with painted hills behind us. There are some upper spots that any rig can access easily. There are lower spots next to the river that are more sandy and the road down is a little rocky at first. Pristine condition when we got here. Please keep it that way by packing out all your trash and waste. This is not the spot to try and dig a hole to poop— too close to the river. The park entrance is 2 minutes away and has pit toilets you can use.

Report Check-In

Medium sized area, impression is over night and not especially long term. Sandy, River is low.

Report Check-In

We stayed one night at the end of April; beautiful spot, a small area, with no cell coverage at all, by the river, so colder and windier at night compared to inland spots

Report Check-In

This spot is still good, but it has changed. The nicest spots by the river and further in are all blocked off with boulders and locked gates. Numerous no trespassing signs. But just off the highway there is still a big open spot that seemed to be OK. At mile marker 91. No cell service.

As others have stated before me, this was a great place. We stayed here for one night before driving into capital reef. We were the only ones here and got here after dark. I had to trust previous people because of how dark it was and being in a low clearance 26ft rv but I had no issues. There is a higher and lower road. The lower road gets you closer to the river and further away from the road. I didn’t go down there but it looks a little more sketchy for larger rig. I stuck with the higher road and had no issues. The stars were like something I have never seen before. So amazing! I would highly recommend. On the down side, no Verizon coverage but we were already expecting that.

GREAT LOCATION right outside the park. Like everyone says, the best spot is to the right, down the little road to the end. Close to the river and private. Someone said you need a 4x4. I don't think you do, we made it down there with our van. It is sandy and I am sure horribly muddy after rain, so use your judgement. If you have a large rig, stay to the left and park up top. Easy in and out.

Report Check-In

awesome quiet place. could hear the river flows, some firepits around.

Report Check-In

Cool place. Get here early to score the best spot at the turnaround at the end as it's closest to the river. Only the sound of the water at this spot. Do not come here if thunderstorms are in the forecast or you might not make it back out on your own.

Report Check-In

Earlier reviews nailed it. Some road noise but get close enough to the river and you can barely hear it.

Report Check-In

We LOVED this campsite. Luckily, we arrived early enough to get the very best campsite, close to the river and very private. It took 4x4 to get to our location, a very steep hill to get down to it, but once you are on the dirt road, it is easy. There are about 4 sites ON the river with fire rings. If you don't have 4x4, there is an "upper deck" where RV's, and travel trailers can be. Loved the setting, the river and the quiet. You will love how close it is to Capitol Reef and there is a pit toilet about 3 minutes from the campsite. Have fun and enjoy the Milky Way!

Report Check-In

Great spot just down the road from Capitol Reef. There isn’t much shade from the heat but we managed to find a spot under a tree. There is a fire ring down by a small river. The river isn’t much for swimming but for a quick cool down it does the trick. The surrounding views are amazing. There isn’t any phone service for many miles so make sure to put the directions in early.
