Greenbelt metro station. large metro station at the end of the green and yellow lines. only good on weekends (or at least that was my interpretation of the signs) but free with easy access to DC with a $4, 25-min metro ride. got in Saturday morning and stayed thru Sunday night. use first lot on left when you enter parking lot to find the oversized area. other lots say 'no rvs'.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Supposedly this Metro Station has 15 spots or so, where overnight parking is allowed - however it requires, that you enter via the right road (Capital Beltway).
We stayed at Greenbelt National Park Campground, and only parked for the day. It was free to park during the weekend, but cost us 5.35 USD for the entire Friday.
Report Check-InThis and three other Metro stations have designated large vehicle/RV spots. We stayed at Greenbelt and Shady Grove. Weekday have overnight and 12hr limitations (see attached photo of signage). Weekends are wide open - early Sat thru late Sun are free and no worries.
Well lit lots, away from the station and no foot traffic.
Train into DC is easy and so worth not parking closer to DC.
Report Check-InSome of the parking lots are being used for a huge COVID vaccination site and associated staff parking, making this station busier than expected early on Saturday morning. Some of the lots are also closed/fenced off for construction. Still plenty of room to find a quiet corner for a van away from the metro station and COVID tents. We do not see any signs for large vehicle/RV parking (I’m guessing it was where they put the COVID tents) so you may not be able to park a big rig or trailer here right now. There is a section for “multiple day” parking. Excellent place to stay when visiting DC for the weekend. Parking fees are based on when you leave the lot.
