Description

Coming from the village, cross the bridge and directly to your left is a parking place where overnight sleeping is allowed. Talked to the guys at the CC registration (one of them the owner of the private section of the trail) and they were OK with this.
Just take your garbage, don't leave your poo near the river (!) and try to ignore the rubbish left by local visitors ...

Good spot. Some traffic in the evening, night was very quiet. But this is not the trailhead of Lago Cerro Castillo hike! The official starting point is a couple of kilometres further this road. You should not start the hike from here because it’s private land. You can park your car 1,5 kilometres before the trailhead, from there starts a road that is only for 4x4 cars.

Nice and quiet spot. Beginning of the laguna cerro castillo hike. Go for the hike early in the morning (before 7 should be good), and you'll not find any ranger. Just jump the fence and go for it. Maps.me is perfect to follow the track but it's well indicated. Total hike is 15km and 1100 elevation gain. Claro 4g signal.

Report Check-In

Great functional spot if you want to do the Cerro Castillo hike early in the morning. Quiet and enough space.

Report Check-In

Great place as described below.
Nice spot with access to the river and space for several motorhomes, any size.
Kind of protected from the wind if not too strong.. It was fine today (medium windy day)
Not bothered by the road traffic (dust blown out the other way and no cars in the evening / night).

Report Check-In

Still available with space for rigs of all size. good spot before or after Laguna Castillo hike. As previously stated, this is not the trail head for the Laguna hike

Report Check-In

Great place to spend 1 or 2 nights. Close to the bridge you have some wind cover (if necessary). Nice views.

Report Check-In

Great place to stay the night, no tents allowed but OK for motorhomes. Just crossing the bridge to your left you will find the parking lot.

Report Check-In

As below, not the start of the trail head. It was the only place close (5 km) that we could find near the trail heads.

The best spot is something like 50-100 m from the bridge, so that you get a good view of the mountains.

Report Check-In

I'm just checking in to make it clear that the trailhead that used to start from this parking lot has been fenced off with private property and no trespassing signs at the entrance and along the fence. still a no camping (im assuming no on the ground tents) and no fires sign here but 3 different cars stayed here last night and no one bothered us even though at least a 20 cars drove by. no size restrictions. easy to get to from the freeway.

Great location to camp before or after the Cerro Castillo hike. We got here late at night and were surprised by the scenery the next day. Were the only ones who stayed here though tons of other came in the next morning. No idea where they stayed but they all complimented our camping spot. As stated before, this is NOT the actual start of the trailhead. That's actually further down the road, where the formal park entrance is. There is access to the trail from here, but you'd have to cross private property. Saw many people do so before we tried it ourselves because the road to the entrance was closed. When we tried our luck, however, we were stopped by the farmer. We abondoned our attempt, because we didn't want to be 'those' tourists. Cursed our luck at the time, but later heard that those who got through were later stopped by park rangers about 1km from the top; never laid eyes on Cerro Castillo or the laguna! Talk about blessings in disguise... Hope this helps not to trespass if a similar situation arises in the future. There's always next time; those who hurry in Patagonia waste their time!

Quiet place to spend the night before hiking the Cerro Castillo Trek. We slept in our car, nobody cared.

we stayed here 3 nights, nobody came. Some others campers. Access to river and view on cerro castillo. very cool place

Buen lugar para pasar la noche, tranquilo y seguro.. Silencioso, con agua cerca.. No tiene servicio de ningun tipo

Very quiet sleep. And good view. Place for many big rigs.

Report Check-In

Had a quiet night here before doing the Cerro Castillo trek in the morning. Another car was parked overnight and a few cars drove by in the night but no-one bothered us. Parks were closed at this time due to strikes so we started the trail here. 5 hours return for us and incredible views!

Report Check-In

There is a offical sign in the middle of this space saying no camping so we did not stay.

Report Check-In

As other said: good to spend the night close to the start of the trail. River was too rough to get in. Enough space for several cars. Some traffic late at night.

Report Check-In

Goede plek voor een overnachting. Uitzicht op Cerro Castillo. De weg loopt verder naar het beginpunt (4 km) voor de wandeling naar de lagune. Geen voorzieningen.

Report Check-In

The official trailhead has moved a couple of kilometers west and the ticket office here is permanently closed. We didn’t know, so had to walk back from the trailhead to here. Still an OK spot to camp and then drive to the trailhead (or park right before the warning) in the morning.

Report Check-In

Nothing special about this place, it's just very convenient to stay overnight here if you want to hike in the Cerro Castillo park the next day. It's the parking of the first entry, plenty of space and the river down 50 meters. No traffic. Easily accessible without 4WD. Possible to pitch a tent just after the parking on the left side, grass under the trees (nicer place than the parking!). No traffic.

Perfect place to sleep before hiking. The police came during the night but leave without saying anything. Good spot !
