This is disbursed camping, site # AC-10 long, narrow and typical Forest Service Road for this area. Great broad views this time of year when leaves off trees. Tent platform. Level parking suitable for a typical overlander. We’re here in our overlander modified F350 with a Lance 825. We approached from the lower end of Avery Creek Road, passing the White Pines Group camp and then the Horse Stables on our way up. Other sites on the road were mostly parallel parking with tent pad a short distance away. Most not great for rooftops tents, Depending on foldout direction. Trailer tow folks would need top notch backing skills if they met someone coming opposite direction.
Mobile: 2 bars Verizon.

Lots of cyclists on the gravel road the Sunday afternoon we stopped here. As described, two modest Verizon bars no facilities beyond a fire pit and a grille. No views with leaves on the trees obviously but there are trails to walk to get a peak at the horizon.
Report Check-Ingreat, quiet, and secluded camp spot. 10-15 minutes up a dirt road from the main Pisgah NF road, so keep an eye on weather, my dodge sprinter would never have made it up or down if it were muddy. there are lots of hiking trails all around you. only a few cars passed me while i was there. no one gave me any trouble. i spent 2 nights here. beautiful place to stay.
Report Check-InThis is an exceptional location. Two beautiful tent sites, one large one small (a short hike down from the large one). Lot is flat and can accommodate three+ rigs (without blocking a gate that says “Do not block”). I slept in my van and ultimately spent three nights cause it’s SO good. Mountain biking, gravel riding and hiking all available right from this spot.
Report Check-InAddendum to my original post for this spot: occasionally, but more often in the winter months, the Forest Service closes these roads. A FS employee knocked on our door early our last morning at AC#10 and told us they were going to close the road due to upcoming heavy rains. We checked about reopen times at the visitors center, no one knew anything. He left the gate unlocked, but closed, for us so that we could leave later that morning.
