On your way to NP Los Alerces on RP 71, you'll find a narrow side road at your left, 3.5 km from the junction towards Esquel. Take the exit, and several flat lookouts are available. Some wind protection, slightly visible from the road.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Local told us this location was private property and we must leave ASAP.
Report Check-InBy far our best camping experience in Patagonia. Route description is acurate, if you're coming from Esquel simply follow in reverse. We were treated by a blazing pink sunset like I have never seen before (see photo)! In the evening we could see and hear the gauchos herding the cattle down below by the lake, in the morning we were treated by their caravan of sheep moving down the road. Can confirm what TalesInVan wrote; the place is private property but the owner will let you camp if you don't build a fire and don't litter. Unfortunately there was some trash, so please let's keep this place available for fellow travelers. It's not that hard to clean up your own trash, people!
Report Check-InThe owner of the hotel just above came, said no problem to stay but he told us no fire and no trash. But careful it's a private property so maby one day if there is too many people he won't accept it. Enjoy the view !
Report Check-InExcelent night here, in a plateau near a big tree. Silent during all night, good views off lake and snow caped mountains around.
Report Check-InPerfect spot with nice views. There are different flat areas to choose from depending on how high up you drive. We chose the one next to a tree, overlooking the lake. Very quiet at night and we didn't have wind.
Our rig is big (3.5 m high and around 7m long) and we had no problem at all.
Very nice spot next to rp71. Slightly hidden but no traffic at night. Not wind protected. No water. Great view of the lake and mountains, very quiet
