We strongly recommend showing up early because of how long the queue is. You must also show up with all photocopies prepared (passport, entry stamp, and visa if you have one). Everyone online says two copies of everything for some reason, although they only actually wanted one. It took less than thirty seconds for my husband (EU passport) to be processed and 15 minutes for me (US passport). We waited probably 15 minutes for our turn so altogether we were there for around half an hour.

We came to extend our visa and they are very quick and efficient but we couldn’t do it because the current visa needs to be expiring in 7 days or less, ours were 10 days so they told us to come back after a few days. I don’t know if this is applied to everyone but we are from the Group 2 countries. They also wanted 2 photocopies of the first page of the passport, 2 photocopies of the entry stamp and visa page and a photo (not sure if 1 or 2 since they didn’t say anything about me giving them 2).

They told us that for the tourists who want to extend their visa, it's just open from 8.30am until 12.00.
Be ready to wait, there's a really long queue.

Very quick and easy. 5 mins max. Only issue was that they would only give us 30 days extension as we had already been in Bolivia 5 days before this visit and they did not have a stamp for 55 days! (90 days maximum allowed). We asked about extending over 90 days and they said it is not possible. Apparently the maximum stay is 90 days per year now.

We arrived at 1:30 and were told to return at 2:30 as Inspector was at lunch. Upon returning were told we could not extend until three days left on visa despite saying we did not know for sure where we would be than. We were told there were plenty of places to renew and to wait.

Added 60 days in 5 minutes. We had been in Bolivia less thank 2 weeks and told the official we we're going to the Amazon for three weeks so we needed the extension now. He didn't seem to care. Get ticket at desk on right and wait your turn. Quick & easy process.

Report Check-In

did not want to give me an extension because I had more than two weeks left on my current 30 days. told me to come back when I have less than two weeks left.

EDIT: when I came back when I only had two weeks left they didn't even look at the date on my stamp. I guess I just happened to her a grumpy guy. So if they say you can't get it yet just come back later or the next day when they have different personnel. ended up getting 60 extra days, took less than 5 minutes.

Very quick to get visa extension. You have to queue to get a ticket, then you go directly to a counter without waiting. No question asked, just a stamp with 30dias extension on your Bolivia stamp. It takes us 10 minutes.
