Description

All public access roads on North Padre Island are free to use with no access fees. Most of North Padre (Port Aransas south to PINS) will require a beach parking permit ($12). These can be bought at any convenience store on the Island or from the beach patrol. Camping is permitted along the beach. Duration varies by location, best to ask beach patrol or local PD for up to date info.

Be aware that beach maintenance crews constantly work the Island grading/moving sand. Driveability varies daily. Always visually check the area. Also, be aware of tides than can and do reach the dunes.

We got to the beach right at high tide. There was just a small space between the water and the dunes, which happened to be “the road” according to the Beach Enforcement guy. However, due to the “super tide” he said we were good there. He sold us a $12 beach pass using our credit card. We enjoyed sleeping to the sound of waves all night and waking up to a beautiful sunrise. We parked just west of Newport Rd on very hard packed sand. No issues with our front wheel drive Coachmen van. Had decent cell service with T-Mobile.

Beautiful beach and easy access to park.

Info straight from the beach patrol: You can stay on the Corpus Christi island beaches for a total of 6 nights each month. You can stay in one spot for 3 consecutive nights, then you have to move to a different spot. Permits are $12 and are good for the calendar year. They can be purchased at most grocery and convenience stores. The website to find permits is https://www.cctexas.com/parks/services/general-government/beach-parking-permits.

Road leads to a driveable beach with hard packed sand, lots of space for camping a safe distance from the waves. A popular spot for fishing, surfing, hang gliding, and camping, with lots of other vans and rvs. The area is well maintained with trash cans, toilets, and is regularly plowed. Unclear if we needed a permit to stay, but we didn’t get one and weren’t bothered during our two night stay. While we were there, there was a storm and an unusually high tide that flooded the beach, but we had plenty of space to back up and avoid the tide. The other Ioverlander spots on this beach would have been too flooded to camp. Would highly recommend this spot.
