Description

Dog attacks have been reported. Use caution.

The camping site MUNDO CHALIO in XpuHa is located in the middle between Playa del Carmen and Tulum. It is one of the last possibilities to camp almost close to the beach. All other beaches are blocked by hotels.
The access road to MUNDO CHALIO is easy to find. On the expressway 307 towards Cancun pay attention to the kilometer stone 265. DIRECTLY HERE turn into the access road to the RESTAURANT LA PLAYA , to the diving school BAHIA DIVERS and to the CLAMPINGHOTEL SERENITI.
After approx. 70 metres you will come to a checkpoint. Here you will be charged the entrance fee to the beach. FOR CAMPERS THE ACCESS IS FREE !
The beach area of XpuHa is turtle sanctuary, therefore no dogs. This is also controlled here! Make sure that nobody can see your dog in the camper.
In front of the restaurant car park, turn left into the access road to the campsite. The rent is 300 MXN WITHOUT electrics and 450 MXN WITH electrics per night and per motorhome, NOT per PERSON !!!!.
From the spaces to the water it is about 70 meters. All spaces are FULL-HOOK-UP. Even very large campers have no problems with us. The camping site consists of fine sand from corals, it does not get hot even in the biggest midday heat! The water in the sea becomes deeper and deeper only very slowly, so that the place is also ideal for small children and almost harmless ! Then we should also talk about sea grass. On 5 to 10 days a year there is a lot going on, in most of the time there is little and on some days nothing at all is washed up. Of course the beach is cleaned every day... After you have eaten your breakfast, the beach will be sea grass free again.
You know that English is not our mother tongue. Please excuse our mistakes.
We wish you a pleasant stay on our camping site MUNDO CHALIO directly at the beautiful Caribbean beach of the Riviera Maya.

Excellent place to stay a few days.
Admittedly, it has a lot of day guests and permanently installed caravans.
However, we never felt disturbed at any time of the day!
Dierck and Vera are wonderful people who are helpful in all situations.
The dive shop right next to it is also highly recommended.
Under the leadership of Marcos +52 984 879 0973 and his crew, diving in the sea and in the cenotes becomes an experience.
friendly, uncomplicated and super professional. always my pleasure.
lots of other information can be found in the earlier comments.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place near the beach. There is space for 1-2 RVs, the other campsites are occupied by permanent campers. Showers and toilets are cleaned every day. Dierck and Vera, a friendly and welcoming couple from Germany, will give you all the information you need about the area and activities around. Thank you so much! We stayed 15 days and enjoyed the time here a lot. Holiday from travelling.

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Just be aware that on the weekends, the street leading in is lined with people parking, and that there are tour busses offloading people. With the cars on the side, we didn't have enough room to make it in, and had a fun time turning around.

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Beautiful beach, like most of them in this area if Mexico.
Derick, the owner of the RV's area, is kind and nice. For the first night We didn't had enough space - There are 4-5 spots and the rest (6-7) are occupied by permanent trailers. So he took 240 pesos for the first night (without electricity and water connection) and for the next 300 pesos.
We got WiFi from he's friend Robert which was has great connection for 50 pesos.

Cons: The place is crowded, Toilets has no seat, Showers got salty water.

Report Check-In

These shores not for campers- only for glamorous resorts
We were so exhausted from the search of an honest and quiet place- happy to find Dirk here!
300 for the rig- shower and toilet included

Report Check-In

Sometimes it's too basic for the price..no toilet seat & paper and not the cleanest.
Wifi costs 20$/day/device extra. Electricity+150$! We don't have AC! Garbage place: boah. Beach is extremely wonderful+very cool, it has an expensive Beach Club & Restaurant (Beer 60, Food 175-350) in front of.

Only 15m space available. 1-2 times/day we must ask to turn on the water, at bathrooms, too!
300$ for a van incl. 2 or more (i think) and 450$ with energy. too expensive for that campground. 50m distance to the cristal clear really wonderful sea.

Report Check-In

This is a busy place! Only 10 spaces I think, tight, and it looks like 7 are permanently filled. So make sure you have a backup plan if there's no room. Facilities are basic, shower is just a stream of cold water coming out of a hole in the wall. Moderate security, no high fence, but there was a night watchman and you are 500m from the main road. 300Ps for 2 persons in a car camper no hookup which seemed fair value for the area/facilities. You are in a heavily built up resort area driven by flyin $$.

Report Check-In

20 meters from the beach. The kids loved it. Dierk, the manager, let us stay even if they were full. 300 mxp / night for our family of 5 without elec. The location is great. Facilities minimum but that’s ok if you have a motorhome. Very quiet at night but hot and bugs, which is pretty normal.

Report Check-In

Super friendly owners! We spend our first night in our RV here and were helped out a LOT by Robert, a former mechanic from the USA, who lives on the campground. He explained a lot of stuff to us and helped us fix some things that were broken, which was a godsend because we’re still rookies with an RV. He has a moonshine distillery across the street and does a free tour in which you get to drink over 15 types of moonshine, which is also highly recommended! Bring enough food because there’s no big supermarkt walking distance (but there are two shops with basic stuff like water or snacks). Only downside were the toilets which were a little rundown. 300 pesos is also not cheap, but it might be normal for this region and you are next to a beautiful beach!

Report Check-In

I pulled up to the booth at the begining of the beach and after going back and forth about 5 times that I did indeed want to camp here she told me it would $1000 Mx then when she saw my astonished face she told me it was full. I don't know what was going on but we just left.

Report Check-In

Very helpful and nice campground owners.
Water and electricity and WiFi are available but you need an adapter for the electricity.
The shower and toilet are hardly usable and are located on the site of a boat repair workshop.
450 pesos per night with electric.
You can ask the Rob for WiFi (20 pesos per day)

Report Check-In

Still open for Campers passing through (300p without electricity). Beach is amazing, but campground feels a little like a rundown retirement community. Bathrooms are in poor condition and infested by mosquitos. Welcome by Dierck was friendly. The lady at the front gate required us to pay for day access which was refunded when we decided to stay the night.

Report Check-In

They were too full to allow a small camper during high season. Found a wild camp a little south where I could stay for a few days.

Report Check-In

If you are looking to spend a few days at the beach on the crowded coast between Tulum and Playa del Carmen, this is a good spot to do so. You share the space with some semi permanent RV campers and there is no direct access to the beach with your vehicle. Don’t be discouraged by this though, the beach is wonderful with blue water and white sand. You can easily find a great spot under a palm tree for the day if you get there before 10AM. Dirk and Vera take care of the camping qnd are super friendly.

Report Check-In

this place is good if you have your own infrastructure... don't have kitchen, and you have to share the toilets and showers with everyone on the beach and the parking lot... otherwise, the place is 30 feet's from water, was electricity... and he makes 240 for a small camper (vw bus KOMBI ) with electricity. Water total salty!

Report Check-In

Very nice couple Vera and Dierck running this place. Only few meters from the white sandy beach (no seagras!) nice for swimming. One restaurant at the beach good but a bit expensive. Bathroom clean but not in very good condition.
300 mex/night/2pers without electr. Very quiet at night with a cool breeze at this time of the year. Would stay only 1 or 2 nights and ending up by 5.
Highly recommended !

Report Check-In

Small campground at/near the beach. Really nice owner. We stayed for four nice and had a perfect time. There was music in the weekend because of a wedding, but it is really quiet during the nights. The beach is mainly visited by locals. The water is clear and the sand is white.

Report Check-In

Accessible for big RV. We arrived on a weekday and no issue with main entrance. Beach is at 10 meters from the camping, and it’s one of our favorite beach as it wasn’t not too crowded. Owners are extremely kind, very helpful. We didn’t use bathroom, so couldn’t comment on that. Otherwise the spot is good, 300 night with electricity and water. Restaurants, bars and snorkeling just right to it. This was for us probably the best spot on this coast due to the beautiful beach.

Report Check-In

It was the most unfriendliest way to be sent away. It was Sunday and we knew it is crowdy but we said we would like to stay overnight at the campground. We were not allowed to go in. All other cars were allowed to. The woman at the gate came towards us when we parked shortly at the side to find out what to do and where to go to stay overnight with our baby. She said we should wait 3 hours but are not allowed to got to the beach! What a business? How does the campground survive if they react like this. We hardly do not recommend to for there. When we entered the beach at the next place 100m further we saw that it is not adorable to go there. Checked the next place and could easily enter the beach for 30 peso per person and for 60 peso per person we could stay overnight. Very friendly here.

Report Check-In

What was once one of the nicest places to camp on the whole peninsula (12 years ago we spend over a week here) is now an overcrowded parkinglot, squeezed in between buildung material, a dive school, bars and restaurants. No privacy, the toilets and showers have to be shared with all the day-users of the beach. The water is still nice for swimming but for us defenitely not a place to stay/camp anymore.

Report Check-In

300 mxn/ nuit. wifi 20 mxn.

Report Check-In

you ate losing a lot of money by not allowing pets, especially small pets. we are skipping the whole yucatan because almost nobody is pet friendly.

Report Check-In

We were searching for a place to camp. But huge sign “ no mascotas” let us turn around. At least directly at the entrance.

Report Check-In

Well, where to start... the Xpu-Ha beach is one of the nicest we‘ve seen on the whole riviera! (They have the algae problem too of course but that‘s everywhere along the coast). But that‘s about it.... the often mentioned German caretakers weren’t here when we visited, maybe that is partly while the experience was not the same?!
Camping is NOT beachfront at all! It‘s parking between longterm 5th wheels on some sandy/grassy aera next to a junkyard with old cars/boats and lots of rubish. Toilets are the ones from the public beach, very dirty and full of moskitos. The water is quite salty and brownish, were happy not to depend on it... Wifi was not working, still were charged 300 Pesos / night even without needing electricity and water!
This place benefits from the beach, otherwise there’s no reason to stay and too expensive!

Report Check-In

could not reach the place. lady at gate told us too many cars are blocking the way to go in !!!
she asked us to wait at least 3 hours before going in... we left.

Report Check-In

We enjoyed our stay here. We felt lucky to find this place over Semana Santa as we were nervous. It is busy on the beach and at the restaurant during the day but almost everyone clears out by 7 pm so it’s quiet at night.
We had electricity and water at our spot. There was also shade behind our van which was really nice since it gets very hot.
The beach was nice and clean. The water beautiful and pleasant temperature.
They were having the same seaweed problem here but tried their best to clean it daily.
Some days were windy, others calm.
We ate one meal daily at restaurant. It is expensive and cost 30-40 usd four four of us. Also a small tienda on site.
Bathrooms not the best. Toilets flushed sometimes. Only cold showers.

Report Check-In

Great place to hang out and work on our rig. We enjoyed the beach. Electricity was at full power, showers&toilets were okay and Dierck was a great host.

Report Check-In

Campground directly at the Beach, the german host Vera und dierk are very very friendly, very nice Beach, some Restaurants at the beach, good for staying some days, very cheap 300 pesos per Night, 1800 pesos for a week, bathrooms not so komfortable , we dont use showers, toilets ok, cleaned every day, Full hook up, Apartments nearby available, Stayed 12 days here...

Report Check-In

This place could provide a convenient stop for 300 pesos per night with full hookups. Wifi costs extra. However, spacing is tight with several big rigs that stay for the season. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. Follow GPS waypoints carefully to find campground. The access road is bumpy and if you do not arrive by mid- morning, entry is not easy due to the many people visiting the beach. Washrooms seem to be open to anyone. Water slightly salty and low pressure. We were here between Xmas and New Years and the place was crazy with tourists. Tulum is an easy drive but can be extremely crowded.

Report Check-In

We stayed one week in Mundo Cahlio. Vera and Dierck look touchingly about us. They replace the owner. The beach, a few steps from the campground, is very nice. Bathroom and showers are simple, but they keep them running and cleaned them every day. We felt well. The price was 300$ included electricity. Don’t pay entrance fee for the area at the gate - tell them you are going to the campground.

Report Check-In

Il n'y a aucune place de camping dans ce complexe

Report Check-In

As all others described... mmm??? This place is not worth the money. Even if the caretakers are nice (they were on the road, we never saw them) they should inform the assitante to clean toilets, or at least to refill toiletpaper... very disappointing place!
Big plus: very quiet at night!! No bugs and nice breeze!

Report Check-In

The beach is great and thats the main thing in here. Short walk from the campground. German couple who run this place are welcoming and nice. Can't see the sea from the spots. Water is still really salty what comes out of the tap. Toilets are dirty and did not want even to trie out the showers. Camping spots are next to the neighbors "garbage recycling field". That was the biggest down side of this place!
If you arrive at the weekend then locals have double parked everywhere and leaving no space to actually drive away anymore.
If you have the budget then go to the other place mentioned here or if you like that beach but don't like to park next to the piles of garbage then park on the dirt road side leading into this place for free

Report Check-In

Hm, what shall I say about this place. The biggest pro: Dierk and Vera - longtherm campers - are very welcoming and really nice people, which help the local owner to take care of the guests. The other pro: in this area, it's hard to find a cheaper place on the beach. The beach is nice, but overwhelmed from a (really good restaurant). No comments about toilets and showers. The place looks a bit like a junk yard with a high potential. It's a shame. If you can afford it, go to Puerto Morelos, Acamaya Cabanas y Campground. It's the double price and five times nicer.

Report Check-In

this place is very dirty! you walk across construction debris to get to toilets which are filthy and showers dont drain. No rubbish bins at camp. lots of people walking through from restaurant and beach. But, its right by a lovely beach, its cheap at 300 per site and the host Dierck is very friendly and helpful!

Report Check-In

During the holidays the parking lot in front of the restaurant is very crowded. The camping place is a sandy parking lot but with a really good vibe. Vera and Dierk are very nice hosts with a lot of informations. You can have electricity and dump. The water is salty, we don't do it in our tank. The bathrooms are very rustic, mostly dirty with cold water for showering. BUT the beach is fantastic with clear water. Very good for swimming and relaxing. If you don't need the bathrooms very often, you can have a fantastic time here.

Report Check-In

This place is dirty, very dirty. Its basically part of a parking lot behind a restaurant and there is a lot of foot traffic through the campground all day and night. toilets are disgusting, showers don't drain, there are no rubbish bins and water is salty. BUT, host Dierck is very nice and helpful and the beach (behind the restaurant, not visible from the campground) is stunning. Very cheap for families at 300 pesos per site.

Report Check-In

This is a very recommendable campsite on a dreamlike white sandy beach with clear turquoise water. The hosts Vera and Dierck are very very friendly and exceptionally helpful. Sanitary facilities are Mexican standard. This is the only bad thing in this place. We used our own shower and toilet. There is full hook-up. There are also several beach bars as well as nearby shopping possibilities and weekly comes a German baker. Everything can be done with the Colectivo. The ideal place to take a longer break. We liked it so much that we stayed for 11 weeks.
A big thank you to Vera and Dierck.

Report Check-In

We stayed here 4 nights and had a good time! The place is quiet and has enough shady parking spaces. All guests are given a price list and a list, what you can do everything from this place. We paid 300 pesos per night. For 1 week they charge 1800 pesos (1 night free!) And for 4 weeks 6000 pesos. This is very, very cheap for this area !!!! Friends told us that the fresh water is very saline. Now they have a new well and the water is impeccably fine. The restrooms are renovated, but the showers only have cold water. The white sand beach is only 50 feet away and fantastic. Vera and Dierck have welcomed us. When we asked, they always had a good answer - they are great hosts. Thank you Vera! Thanks Dierck. Somehow we will visit you again !!!!

Report Check-In

Not a bad spot. Parking lot behind a restaurant for $300MXN per vehicle. We're a family of five and there was no extra charge for extra people. Cell service was weak, and no wifi available. We stayed the summer of 2015 and had the place to ourselves, and again in November when several other campers were there, most of them full-time under large palapas. We stayed in the parking lot which fills up all around you during the day when guests to the restaurant are there. 30amp electric and the manager had adapters available. Decent overnighter. Bathrooms are really bad, most have no doors or toilet seats. Next door at the "glamping" place they wanted $150MXN per person, $100 for kids, FYI.

Report Check-In

Dierck est l'hôte le plus amical rencontré depuis notre départ. Camping assez petit mais avec très belle plage. L'endroit idéal pour se reposer. N'oubliez pas de remplir le garde manger avant votre arrivée. Chemin d'accès assez accidenté

Report Check-In

We stayed at Mundo Chalio for a week. We enjoyed our stay, it is very beautiful but is has some drawbacks. For the 295 Pesos you get a nice parking spot 100m from the beautiful beach and full hookup, but no wifi. If you rely on the bathroom facilities provided, they are not so nice: only salt water, so you never stop being sticky from the salt on your skin, the toilets only have eather lights or a door or a toilet seat. There is no hand soap. For wifi you can go to the beach bar named KSM. If you enjoy diving or are interested in doing a diving certificate we highly recommend Bahia divers which is right at the beach 50m away. We did our open water license with the instructor Charles who was a great teacher, but all the other diving instructors are also very nice!

Report Check-In

the location of the campground is fantastic, shadow under palms, wihte sandy ground, 30 meters to the beach, nice to swim, the very friendly german host couple, Vera and Dierck, are in Germany from June till September 2016, but the campground is open during this time as well. So if you like to stay here, go in , searching a side that you like and somebody will come during the day to collect the money. Price 295 Pesos/Night with full hook-up. In the moment there is no sign on the road from the CP.. So, on km marker 265, if you come from Chetumal, you will see a restaurant. Turn there direct right. There is kind of small gate. Tell them you would like to go to the CP, then you have not to pay a fee!

Report Check-In

its expensive $300, but nice beach and quiet at night, wifi from the cabañas .

Report Check-In

We pulled in here and took one look at the beach and decided to stay; no crowds, turquoise water and quick access to it. We paid 295p per night with full hook ups but sadly no Wi-Fi. there is good telcel reception for a hotspot. Hosts super nice. fresh water available for 20p a gallon.

Report Check-In

We loved this place! One week turned into 10 days in the blink of an eye. Great hosts,Dierk and Vera make you welcome, the best beach and a sense of community in the campground. It is small. Big rigs should call ahead to make sure there is room. Enjoy pizza night on Fri!

Report Check-In

Great spot. Water is salty, better to avoid if you aren't desperate. Dierck was great and we met lots of interesting travelers.

Report Check-In

Pour petit VR. Sites colles les uns sur les autres. Chemin pour se rendre cahoteux et branches tres basses. Non recommande pour grand VR. Plusieurs emplacements occupes par des permanents. There are two campgrounds nearby: Bonanza and Mundo Chalio. Look for the signpost on the road. At Mundo Chalio Dirk and Vera are the host. We paid 295 Pesos (2 Persons, truckcamper) a night. Included electricity, water (lightly salty) and sewer. Restaurant La Playa right on the beach some footsteps away. Bonanza is more expensive, they try to charge 150 Pesos per Person (without electricity, no sewer)...

Report Check-In

Beautiful but expensive. White sandy beaches are stunning, gets rlly busy since its a local beach. Mexican owner who only speaks spanish , NO english he wanted 750 pesos for 1 night for five people. Has cold showers, non-potable water, internet, dirty bathrooms. It was a parking lot so could park rigs and hitch tents. Some locals lived here. When we were there, there was a cracked pipe so you could smell the sewage from the bathrooms

Report Check-In

M$295 with flush toilets and cold shower. Nearby restaurants and beautiful beach. Many regulars make this part of their annual winter pilgrimage from their frigid northern homes to Mexico.

Report Check-In

Very expensive, they even charge for the dog. We ended up paying 400 pesos/night and they wanted 100 more for electricity plug-in. Nice beach, but the price is a turn-off.

Report Check-In

The owner lives in Tulum. It is usually a German couple, but they are not here between April & October. During this time, an elderly German woman (Sigrid) was responsible and claimed that we did not pre-pay, even though they told us nothing. But otherwise it is really nice.
We paid 200Pesos/Person. For 1 week you pay for 6 days. Actually, according to the list (which they showed us later), it would be nothing without 150Pesos, 180 with electricity & water. Dogs 10 pesos separately. So we have paid more, but whatever. Very simple shower & WC. Current was at 200 this. Water unfortunately very ugly brown and quite salty! Is not even useful for brushing so ugly it is! Has not much shade, but still you can find some palm trees. Our 2 dogs were not a problem.
Has some dogs on the court, but barking very rare! On Saturday and Sunday, it was of course more people, but it was surprisingly quiet this weekend!

Report Check-In

SINCE the end of 2012 apparently Gringo NEW OWNER! Sauteuer!!
The but actually wanted 450 pesos!! And best of all, NO NOTHING! Dogs cost EXTRA! Current costs extra. Wifi costs extra. For 1 week would have given a slight discount. We're almost escaped!

1 of 2 campgrounds right next to eachother north of Tulum on the Riviera Maya. Beautiful white sandy beach with turquoise-blue water. Campground is set off of beach, mostly permanent residents with a few spots for people traveling through. Dirty bathrooms and cold shower with no shower head, electricity was only 20 amp, pirated wifi. Talked them down to $15.31/night with 2 trucks sharing the same site, otherwise would've been too expensive. Pizza night with the Canadians every Friday night was a blast.

Price: Talked them down to $15.31/night with 2 trucks sharing the same site

Beach front location with enough shady spots to keep you cool. You can't make any type of fires on the sand, but the grounds keeper will loan you his grill for a small fee. Bring in all your own drinking water. Salt water showers available.
