Nice to be back at this beautifully located farm campsite with its long green grass and immaculate ablutions set beneath towering Towerkop. But sad to say on this visit there was a glitch with the water supply to the ablutions and taps on the individual sites which was thought to be due to the ever present ESKOM load shedding. We made do with buckets of water from the dam. No doubt Philip & Louisa will introduce some form of back up system to ensure continuous water supply to the showers and toilets etc.

Wonderful place to stay and the host Phil is fantastic. Beautiful view. 1 night turns to 2 easily. Do the Plaat hike. Only shame is load shedding and someone nearby farm runs a lid generator in the evenings if load shedding is on.

Absolutely Beautiful!! Awesome mountain views and camping next to a dam on green grass. 5 star ablutions and free Wifi

Report Check-In

This campsite will remain in our memories as one of the most spectacular locations on all our travels. Stunning views of the mountains. Total tranquility next to the water. Lush green grass under your feet. Total bliss.
Power points and water available. Super nice ablutions and kitchen. Very convenient to have the washing machine. There was no tumble drier when we were there. They even have a communal camping fridge, kettle & microwave oven.
The owners were very hospitable. The hiking trail was beautiful.
Surprisingly, this campsite was more affordable than most others on our tour and pensioners get 25% discount.
We will definitely stay here again.

Camped here for 4 nights. Once more, like said previously, the best ablution block we have camped at.
Hosts very friendly and helpful. Scenery beautiful. We just got first autumn colors in valley. You can cover whole area from Calitzdorp to Barrydale from here.
Take your mountain bike and hiking boots.
Midweek price for 2 people very good.

What an amazing place. We were met by the friendly owner and more importantly his 2 dogs. Really amazing campsites and the ablutions are top notch. They even dropped firewood at our campsite. Looking forward to the new few days here.

Gem of a place! What a great campsite. Owners were super friendly. Ablutions are like a hotel bathroom, spotless and modern. Camp sites are situated alongside a farm dam. Sites are not super level so some maneuvering needed to get situated. We are in an overland truck. Highly recommend this place!

Report Check-In

really nice camping! beautiful view and ablutions are clean
we paid 360R for 2 and a car

Report Check-In

Probably the nicest place we have stayed so far.
Super clean and modern ablution s. Great views and just a lovely place to hang out.

Report Check-In

Really an excellent campsite especially if you're alone like we were. If it's full then there's no privacy at all. Still, beautiful views, peaceful environment, refreshing lake right in front of your tent, kind owners and free fast wifi throughout the camping area. Really recommended! Oh, the ants in the grass were a bit of a problem too. Not sure something eco friendly could be done about it.

We loved this campsite! Waking up for a swim in the beautiful dam, surrounded by mountains, was a real highlight. There was only one other couple when we were there so it was very peaceful. Lovely owners who even gave us a box of delicious, freshly-picked grapes on departure!

Report Check-In

Amazing campsite. 4 sites by the lake, very peaceful, clean ablutions. The lake is perfect for cooling off on a hot day.

Wine is also very tasty.

Report Check-In

Beautiful campsite with view over the (swimming)lake and the mountains. Very good ablutions but if you have to share it with an other family not so convenient. Spots are not private, close together. But if you have the place for yourself it's an amazing setting. They gave us very nice and fresh table grapes from the wine yard. There is a laundry machine you can use and there is a hiking trail to the top of the plateau.

Superb camp-site, spotlessly clean, ablution/kitchen block lovely & clean. Also has microwave & electric kettle available. Beautiful setting overlooking dam. Very peaceful! Bags of wood available for R30.
R560 per night for 2 adults, 2 children.

This has to be one of the finest campsites in this region. Great location with mountain and vineyards backdrop next to a swimming dam and now with new, very smart ablutions. Great hiking area. Free firewood available at the site. Access track to the campsite a bit tight for big rigs. Philip and Louisa the farm's owners are always welcoming. If you're lucky you can buy some of Philip's wine if he hasn't sold out!. Highly recommended.

Lovely small topclass campsite. 2 excellent new family type bathrooms to service 5 sites.

Fabulous spot! Feels like you have the world to yourself! Views spectacular. Still no ablution, so price is ZAR50 pppn. Sporadic MTN signal, but WiFi ok at hall by reception. Love the hikes and the birds.

Report Check-In

Wonderful camping spot which is part of a guest farm and vineyards. The camp site is situated a distance away from main buildings on a higher level so it’s private, secluded, and with great views. 4-5 campsites with a big dam in front for swimming. Electricity and light at each site and all are extremely well maintained. There is also a fire pit at each individual site. The sites share one toilet. We had the entire place to ourselves for 2 days so that wasn’t an issue. Showers are not up at the site but available down beside the main reception area with separate ladies and gents ablutions. It works well though it does mean you’ve got to drive down for your shower. Phillip, the owner, says he is absolutely committed to building full ablutions at the campsite during 2019. When this is done, he will have a wonderful set up. As for shade at the site, it’s not too bad as there’s some maturing trees, plus a gazebo, though we didn’t feel the need to use that. The location is wonderful, Phillip & Louisa are delightful and we were fortunate to get to taste their limited release pinotage, which is delicious. The camp site probably isn’t suitable for cars as it’s a rough/steep road so reasonable ground clearance required. To sum up this campsite, it’s fair to say that it is the gem of the farm.

What a stunningly beautiful place to camp! It is as described in earlier posts except that at present the lovely campsite has only a toilet but no showers. The very friendly owners may add these in the future. The access track up to the campsite from the farmhouse reception is in places quite steep, a bit narrow and loose surfaced which might be an issue with a big truck type rig. And yes, their wine is really good too.

Report Check-In

Very nice owners and the campground itself is perfectly located: in the middle of the vineyard, overlooking the mountains and right beside a swimming lake. Only downside is that there are no ablutions atm. The owners told us this should be done in the next off-season. Without the ablutions it’s kind of expensive, we paid 150 ZAR pp. But the wine is excellent!

Report Check-In

Very lovely place, friendly owner, rich green grass, a reservoir to swim, petfriendly, mountainview, electrical, water and light, braai place. Ablutions are to be reconstructed, but we can use the showers down at the farm, if needed. A small clean WC ist provided. Very calm and safe, simply perfekt! 100 ZAR pp

Report Check-In

The place to stay on Route 62. We had. bad weather so used the backpackers accommodation at Oakrest. Price is R210 pppn but the facilities are excellent and if you have their wine it's delicious. Very friendly owners Phillip and Louise. Would definitely come back.

Rustic small campsite on a wine farm, on grass, small trees, bring your own shade! Beautiful views to the vineyards and mountains, pond to swim, hiking trail onto top of a plateau with even more wonderful views.. Warm-hearted hosts. Waterfall-like open-air shower :-) , they also offer beautiful chalets. Don't forget to taste the wonderful wine they sell and perhaps some delicious grapes.
