*Please note comments re exchange rate.

Very easy to get out of Ghana. Everything is done quickly, with very friendly agents. Immigration and customs next to each other. On the Togo side, it was also very simple but longer if you apply for your visa at the border. That's what we did and it cost us 35,000 CFA. You must provide a photo ID and a hotel reservation in Togo. Pleasant customs officers if you arrive with a smile. Be careful, shortly after there is a gendarmerie check to check your luggage and "register" your vehicle. It's a tip to ask you for 2000 CFA not justified because no receipt... The road is very bad then, to the customs post 10 kilometers away.

Visa on Arriva for eu in 2024 is 25 000 cfa for EU pasport (not sure about another)!!! the officers they cheat us and ask for 80$ per person. becouse we have only dolars and we think that it coat 35 000 cfa like before. So finały we pay 70$ each person (42 000 cfa). Totaly 140$.

They say that this is Exchange rate so this is why is higher... we know that it was cheating. But night was almost coming and we try do this faster.

on ghana site was great and fast. on togo site they check bagpacks and ask for gift. police on the Gate very corupted. make sure that you have cfa and pay only 25 000 cfa. you will see stamps on you visa (10 000+10 000 + 5 000 cfa).

I met another traveller in Wli and we took a taxi from Wli to Kpalime (800 Cedi). However, we cannot recommend the Leklebi Kame border. We could only buy a multiple entry visa (35,000cfa). One of the officials wanted to call his boss. We assumed that he was enquiring about a single entry visa. The officials already had our passports in the office and were busy stamping them. We were told that the boss would come and bring stamps (the stamps are stuck in the passport). The stamps were no longer in stock. We waited at a border in the middle of nowhere - no shop - nothing. After almost 2 hours the boss arrived - the stamps were stuck in the passport and we had to pay 35,000 cfa. We had a long discussion because we were led to believe that we would get a single visa. The discussions didn't help. My friend could only pay in euros (100 euros). The officials used a very poor exchange rate (1:500), so he only got 20,000 cfa back. Then the taxi and our luggage were checked - another 20 cedi. Of course we still had to pay for the taxi journey - 3000 cfa. And the absolute cheek was that we had to go to the officials again. They explained to us that they had taken the wrong exchange rate. My friend had to give them back 5000 cfa of the 20000 cfa change. Rip-offs at their finest - christmas money.

Would avoid this border post. VOA for Togo available. Ghanean side CdP and Immigration super fast. Togo side VOA took a little but really friendly. After this you reach a police checkpoint like mentioned before. They were really unfriendly to everyone with a non Togolese license plate. Yelling quite aggresive, taking keys of motobikes. They only open the gate if you pay what is obviously a 'tip' and not a fee. They wanted 5000 CFA, then 9000 then 4000.. in the end we came through without paying but it was a serious hassle. Would avoid this border post and just take one of the many others in the area. Yes the road is beautiful, but so are all the roads in the area.

This route is truly amazing, so beautiful! The road after the border entering Togo is not good but we would recommend it straight away even though the border took us more than 2.4 hours.

Exiting Ghana was easy. It took some time but the people were nice and all was good.

Entering Togo was more complex. We arranged an e-visa as earlier comments said you needed it here. But we were two days earlier than mentioned on the visa. The embassy (who we contacted before hand) said this was no problem but the man at the border said we had to wait 2 days. Long story short we had to pay extra, money for his own pocket. You can buy a visa here by the way. so we advise to do that!
After this point we came at a spot where we had to pay 2000 cfa for our car. We did not get a ticket. The man was stubborn but it was clear it was money for his pocket again. After a discussion we paid but explained that this was not good for tourism in Togo. Maybe if more people explain this it will change some day?

11km later there is a post to stamp your CDP. Easy, no hussle!

No Visa on arrival for Togo here!

We came here and asked if they issue VOA for Togo on the togolese side. They kindly explained us the following:
VOA for Togo is only possible at the following borders: Honuta, Shia and Nyive since the Visa is issued in Kpadapé in Togo.

The road to go here is good with potholes between Golokuati and Liati.
