Was looking for a nice campsite after visiting the ruins at Bonampak. I was unimpressed with the options for van camping at the other locations already listed here as they were all just parking lots. Saw a sign for this place. It’s very nice, you can camp next to the river that runs through the property in a nice grassy area. The family is extremely welcoming and kind. They also have some cabanas and are happy to prepare meals for you if you like. Highly recommended.
Note: The internet/electricity for the village is on the same grid, and there was grid outage during our time. Do not expect internet/electricity while visiting the ruins in this beautiful lush area (:
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
beautiful campsite but do not rely on the family for the food, no taste at all, not that cheap and takes 3h to come.
usually we are tolerant and understandable but this was way too slow service for food...
just come and pitch your tent or stay in their domes for cheap and enjoy the beautiful relaxing campsite, not much more though.
no real comfy chill area so bring hammock if you have one.
we found Ismael to be a bit too pushy/harassy about guided activities, which we ended up not doing.
overall worth it but with these details to consider
Report Check-InNice family place, separated by a small stream. Beautiful flowers, shrubs and trees. Many hummingbirds. Ismael is a nice owner. Simple facilities, no shower.
WLAN available for a fee. Only suitable for small campers. Dog friendly. We wanted to stay one night, it became 4 nights.
As described in the other posts. Family super friendly. Toilets basic but very clean. Recommended.
Report Check-InIsmael and his family are extremely kind and happy people. Their eco lodge is serene and very natural. Plenty of wildlife including friendly ducks, lizards, dogs, small fish, and hummingbirds. Minimal mosquitoes, yet a few gnats. We stayed in our van for 100 pesos a night. The family offers meals, a jungle walk to a small ruin/swimming pools, and coordinates a shuttle to the sites. The only way to access the jungle - other than the nearby attractions - is with a native. So, we went on the jungle walk for 200pp and saw a monkey. His daughter also makes beaded bracelets, anklets, earrings, necklaces, and taught us some Mayan. Muy bien! Also, visit their webpage on Facebook for more images of the place - https://www.facebook.com/yaaxbacheecologico
Report Check-InWe just stayed there two nights. The place is pretty nice. There is room for a couple RV's and some tents. They charged us 80 peso for two of us in a tent. They have cabañas for 300 pesos per night, it gets cheaper if you stay longer. There is no shower just wash yourself in the river. They are just building an new kitchen for the guests. Water to drink is available. They offer some daytrips to indigenous villages or to the nearby cascades. We stayed there on our bike trip riding south and loved it.
Report Check-Inbeautiful place, very nice family, they have the grassy area to camp plus two dome tents for rent and are in the process of building cabañas.
i added ismaels business card in the photos.
mas o menos working wifi for 15 pesos/hour
